Those Yester Hopes

And why it’s okay

Photo by Priscilla Du Preez on Unsplash

I miss your smile,
And it’s okay.

I miss our conversations,
And it’s okay.

You no more love me,
And it’s okay.

I can’t have you any more,
And it’s okay.

The more I seek you, the more I get hurt.
The harder I try to forget you, the harder it gets.

But it often happens that love is the single greatest disappointment in one’s life.

Those yester hopes!

Ah! The ill effects of optimism!

Now,
after the waves settle, when the sun shines brightly, and the clouds are all gone,
I realise it was all for nought!
