To the South Canyon Rim
The Grand Canyon is for stargazing
Monument Valley runs from northern Arizona up into Utah. The landscape is comprised of the iconic buttes seen in panoramic Western movies. We took a detour on our way to the Grand Canyon for a brief drive-through. Along the way were splendid Owl Rock and a scene-enhancing moon.
South of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is our night lager, Under Canvas near Valle (aka Grand Canyon Junction). This is luxury camping for sure, glamping being a portmanteau of glamorous and camping.
Big spacious tent, hot shower inside, plush bed, hot coffee, and food available at the check-in lodge tent. We fired up the wood stove about eleven that first night and kept it going all night, mainly for Mac the bulldog’s benefit as Cherie and I had plenty of blankets.
We had a Stargazer Tent and were fortunate to have clear skies. Lying in bed, the Big Dipper appeared unusually bright with its curved handle…
