Travels in Italy: Pitigliano

Another not to be missed town

a town built on a hill with a series of houses attached together. A tower juts out high over the other buildings

While we were still in Tuscany we went to Pitigliano, halfway between Florence and Rome and a short distance from Sovana. This is a town that looks as if it has been carved out of the rocks while underneath, cave cellars had been cut out of the tufa which is a kind of limestone.
