Tropical Twilight
The fleeting colors of evening
Last evening, I took a walk on the north side of Villa Flores, our home in the eastern mountains of Puerto Rico. It has been months since I had been able to photograph anything and I wanted to capture the unusually soft light in the tropical sky.
Dusk and dawn come and go quickly near the equator, which is latitude 0. Puerto Rico is located at about latitude 18, northern hemisphere, and all the photos in this post were taken within one quick twilight half hour.
The photos are the story, so there is no commentary. I chose quotes that reflect my feelings about the images, but you are free, of course, to stroll past them.
“Loneliness is the poverty of self; solitude is the richness of self.”
–May Sarton
“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.”
— Rachel Carson
