“Dandelions don’t tell no lies.” Mick Jagger

Let us praise the earth today —

The giant sequoia trees.
The crashing ocean waves.
The snow-capped mountains.
The dandelions.

The dandelions?

The brightest yellow Earth has to offer.
Scent of new grass and lemon peel.
Soft as a baby’s fist.
Easily plucked.
Tough to dig out.

Despised by gardeners.
Beloved by bees.
Sturdy pioneer,
fulfill your promise:

Spring has returned,
and so have I.

“I have lost my smile. But do not worry. The dandelion has it.” Nhat Hanh
