Week in OSINT #2019–15
Searching, News, Maps and videos
Time for a really quick newsletter, in between all kinds of other important work. Some really nice things were shared last week, but sadly I didn’t make it to go over GitHub to search for new tools. But what did make it this week are the following topics:
- Zawya
- Search engines
- Reddit Search
- New Google Search Operators
- Maps of France
- Unlisted Videos
Article: Zawya
Another blog by InfoSecSherpa and this time it is about Zawya. If you need a news resource, this might be something worth looking at.

Links: Search engines
Are you searching for an engine? Okay, that was a bad joke… Anyway, this was shared last week by Stefanie Proto @Sprp77 on Twitter and it contains a massive list of search engines! From your regular Google and Bing, all the way to specialised sites to hunt down jobs, people or documents. Most of them might be known to the specialists, but it is still worth to have a look!

Links: Reddit Search
And another few links, this time from the Osint Stash. It’s a list of search engines for Reddit.
I would like to mention two from that list. The first one is the tool on pushshift.io and contains an archive of older Reddit data. Be warned, it’s a lot of data per file! Another one is the very cool visualisation of Reddit via the tool Vizit.

News: New Google Search Operators
There is news on the Google front! This time I was notified via a tweet by 0p4r3t0r. Finally we’ll be able to directly search for dates within Google!

Site: Maps of France
Usually I get a notification from Technisette whenever she adds something to her Start.me page and that was found in my newsletter. This time it’s the other way around! This link gives you access to all kinds of maps of France, all free and courtesy of the government. It reminded me a bit of the Dutch service that is called PDOK.
Site: Unlisted Videos
A few days ago I was tagged by AccessOSINT in a tweet.
I have actually used that site a few times before. What it does, is collecting links to YouTube videos that are not listed via the regular YouTube searches, or unlisted videos. Whenever people share a URL on Facebook or a website, it might eventually show up on ‘unlistedvideos.com’. It doesn’t always work, it is indeed full of ads, but maybe there is that one little golden nugget that you were looking for!
Have a good week and have a good search
