- About the project
Aeternity is an open-source smart contract platform based on blockchain. It offers scalability of smart contracts by moving contract execution off the chain. It is designed to deliver unmatched efficiency, transparent governance, and global scalability. It enables developers to create smart contracts with real usage. Projects from different areas could be built on Aeternity such as trustless exchanges, Internet of Things, FinTech, Video Gaming, serving the unbanked, and instant micro-payments. 2. Main features
Aeternity’s main features make the future of blockchain looks real.
- The State Channels change forever the communication between the users (or between the users and the machines) in order to turn it into transactions recorded in the DLT with no chance to be refuted later on. The main idea here is to store all the information on state channels. The blockchain will only be used to settle any economic results of the information exchange. Through this alternative approach, Turing-complete smart contracts exist in state channels but not on-chain. Hence, all transactions become independent and can thus be processed in parallel, which increases significantly the scalability.
- The Oracles make the interaction with the real world data simple as never before.
- The Bitcoin-NG protocol generates blocks at a higher speed so to process more transactions and enhance the scalability.
- PoW via Cuckoo Cycle enables the efficiency of mining hardware to become dependent on RAM, rather than CPU speed, hence it will let you mine from different kinds of devices.
3. What can the AE token be used for?
AE are access tokens to the æternity blockchain and act as a unit of account for the resources spent on æternity. AE tokens are the “crypto-fuel” used to power any application implemented on the platform.
