The 80s punk bank, Public Image Limited and its infamous front man, John Lydon (aka, Johnny Rotten of Sex Pistols fame) sang about nuclear destruction.

Yes, the world is headed for destruction.
Is it a nuclear war?
What are you asking for?

Back then, it was ‘punk rock’ to cluelessly rage against everything we didn’t know.

Including the escalating nuclear arms race.

Fast forward forty years, and a nuclear reality is closer than we think.

New York Times columnist, W.J. Hennigan’s terrifying piece, The Brink encapsulates the rising risk of nuclear conflict.

Nuclear nations like China and India are building up their arsenals at a rapid clip.

Are we hurtling towards global annihilation?

Is anyone paying attention?

Hennigan lays out several nightmarish scenarios. He writes “Nuclear war is often described as unimaginable.

In fact, it’s not imagined enough.”

A mere four days after Russia invaded Ukraine, the Biden administration sent a small “Tiger Team” to prepare a new nuclear playbook of contingency plans and responses. Intelligence, policy and military experts dusted off old emergency preparedness plans and escalation scenarios…
