The Future State Of Nuclear Energy
China To Build Floating Nuclear Plant By 2050
In over a trillion dollar investment in nuclear energy with over 400 nuclear reactors by 2050, China is progressing with experimenting with many different types of nuclear plants.
In the floating model of nuclear reactor, sea water can be used for cooling and shielding, and it will have a longer refueling schedule than most light water reactors
Current And Future State Of Nuclear Energy Share And Nuclear Reactor Count
Nuclear Power To Become The Single Largest Source Of Electricity
By 2050, nuclear power will be the single largest source of electricity targeting nuclear capacity of 1 200 GW by 2050, providing around 24% of global electricity (up from 370 GW providing 14% of electricity at present).
China And India To Play Major Role
The largest expansion of nuclear energy is projected in China, up from less than 3% of global capacity today to about 27% in 2050. India too, is expected to significantly expand its capacity, from less than 2% to about 11% in 2050.
As American reactors continue to age, India and China are accelerating the shift towards nuclear power by building several nuclear power.
