Welcome to Lagos!

That’s what they all say whenever you tell people who have lived here longer than you did about the bizarre experiences you’ve had in this strange place.

Known for its hustle-and-bustle culture, Lagos is a city that never sleeps!

It’s home to the biggest celebrities and multinational companies.

It’s full of career and business opportunities, and almost anyone who wants to “make it” in Nigeria needs to move from their state of origin or city of residence to Big Lagos!

Lagos, with a vibrant population of 15.3 million people living on 1380.7 square miles (3577 square kilometres) of land, is a home for everyone! Despite its location in Nigeria’s southwestern area (where the majority of the population is Yoruba), Lagos is home to people from over 250 ethnic groups, as well as foreigners such as Americans, British, East Indians, Chinese, white Zimbabweans, Greeks, Syrians, Lebanese, and Japanese.

What makes Lagos stand out from every other city in Nigeria?

Why do people come to Lagos and “make it”?

What does it take to survive in Lagos?

How can one become a smart Lagosian?

When are you qualified to be called a Lagosian?

What’s the fastest way to make plenty of money in Lagos?

How can one avoid falling for scams in Lagos?

How expensive or affordable are things in Lagos?

If you’re new to Lagos, these and many more are probably questions on your mind; you badly need answers too.

When I arrived in Lagos about 6 months ago, these were some questions I too needed answers to.

I yearned for a blog, a book, or a guide where I could read and learn how to survive and live in Lagos effectively.

I didn’t find any.

And because I couldn’t find any, I decided to create one!

I created this blog to answer as many questions as possible that you might have about living and surviving in Lagos!

I hope this blog lives up to its expectations and someday becomes a useful resource and one-stop shop for anyone who newly arrives in Lagos and needs answers.

I’ll be sharing my own stories of relocating to Lagos, as well as those of others.

Expect to also find up-to-date information and answers to most of the frequently asked questions you might have about living and surviving in Lagos.

You are welcome to Lagos! Grab a cup of coffee and feel at home!
