Recombining content & data in new ways via an internal #hackathon

Currently in the midst of NewsFoundry here at News Corp Australia & these events are pivotal to the quiet change underway across the business to drive future journalism, understand the connected content consumption of our readers & also thread innovation & true collaboration into the business teams.

The 3 day ‘hackathon’ event allows diverse teams to work as ‘intrapreneurs’ & take an idea to code in 54 hours.

All of the teams are currently working on the Lean Canvas to shape the MVP for their idea, identify the product/market fit & also how the proposition can show new growth for the business.

Creating an environment where journalists, developers, designers, sales staff & product managers can together create new experiences of atoms of content & data is key to ‘show not tell’ the capabilities of our business & also how we can shape great journalism which is in the right place, at the right time, on the right device, in the right context for the modern digital consumer.

Also, these events allow us to create a ‘fail safe’ environment, therefore showcasing to the business as a whole how important it is to ‘learn from failure’.
