SAN FRANCISCO. Thington Inc. today announces the public launch of Thington—an AI for your home—that aims to bring the ‘Home of the Future’ to everyone, via the easiest possible interface: Conversation.

There’s a world of potential in connected devices like smart lightbulbs, locks, thermostats and cameras. They can make your home more secure, lower your bills and make your home more inviting and friendly. But most people just don’t know how to get started. They don’t know which products to buy. They don’t know how to take all the magical promises of this technology and use them to make their lives easier.

The Thington Concierge is a home AI that is there to help. It’s a user-friendly ‘bot’ that helps you set up your devices, gives you a universal remote control which you can share securely with your family or with visitors, and suggests ways that your devices can work with one another. It even welcomes your guests — just like a concierge should.

With Thington’s help you can quickly personalize your home — Thington can tint your lights in the evening to help you sleep, alert you with a photo if there’s movement at your home while you’re out, or even make your home reflect the lights on the Empire State Building.

Thington’s conversational interface helps people get all the benefits from their connected devices. Like the best concierge, it discreetly asks about your preferences without interrupting what you’re doing, and then adjusts the house to how you want it.

And as people get more comfortable with the Internet of Things and start to grow the range of devices that they own, Thington helps them take the right steps and buy the right products to get the secure, safe, efficient and fun home of tomorrow.

As Thington co-founder Matt Biddulph says, “You shouldn’t have to be a programmer to get the most from smart devices in your home. With the Thington concierge we’re working really hard to open up safer, more secure and more personalized homes of tomorrow to everyone —by giving everyone their very own smart assistant.”

Thington is a free app for your iPhone that works with Nest, WeMo, LIFX, Philips Hue, Automatic and NetAtmo devices with many more integrations to come. Thington Inc. is a San Francisco-based software company founded by Matt Biddulph and Tom Coates and angel-funded by some of the tech industry’s best and brightest including Slack founder Stewart Butterfield and ex-CTO of Microsoft, Ray Ozzie.

Thington lets you control all your smart devices from one interface:

You can see everything that’s going on in one stream and control all your devices from one remote control:

The Concierge finds ways for your devices to work together:

It knows what devices you have and tries to think of ways it can make them work together. Then it will walk you through the whole process of setting them up in simple, chatty, conversational ways.

Thington’s Guestlist lets you easily and securely share your controls with visiting friends and family:

People on your Guestlist can only control your things when they’re physically at your home. When they leave, the controls disappear again. The Concierge will even look out for your Twitter friends. When they’re in the area it’ll pop up and suggest adding them to your Guestlist.
