Tip #3: Don’t Tell Other People Your Ideas

You are the smartest, most brilliant, and most talented person in the world. You can’t expect others to get your ideas. They’re too good!

If you tell them to other people, you’ll hear stuff like “How are you going to do that?” or “That’s weird.” or “Are you sure that’s even legal?”

That is exactly the kind of feedback you don’t have time for. Instead, if you’ve got an idea that sounds wacky when you say it out loud, shut your mouth.

Don’t tell anyone and just do it and then see what people say. That’s the only way you’ll know if it holds water.

Try to find other people who are insane like you, who will say stuff like, “Cool!” or “How can I help!” when you tell them even your craziest ideas.

These kinds of friends are invaluable. Make them dinner, tell them you love them, and go to the things they invite you to.

Still, save some stuff for yourself. Telling others about your projects can let the air out of the tires. When you’re in doubt, shut your yapper. You can always open it later.
