At some point in our lives, we all fall into moments where we leave everything for later, where we dedicate ourselves to work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are so tired that fatigue is the excuse for doing nothing but that every single day, so we start and end in constant negative energy and unmotivated. We know how difficult it may sound to get out of that place, but once you start taking action and start taking care of yourself, you will start noticing how you can improve your mood and your energy.

Changing habits is not something that can be done from one day to another; you need to go step by step, be patient, and most importantly: Constant.

It’s important to realize that small things like taking a walk in the daylight can turn your day around, so start small, see how you can implement new habits according to your routine, look for patterns in your day, and think about how you can use existing habits to create new, positive ones. You can always find at least 20 minutes a day to spend quality time doing something that motivates you again.

With these six habits you will start noticing positive mental, physical and emotional changes.

  1. Listen to your body: Yes, just as you read, listening to your body may not be easy, but once you start doing it and try to do it daily you will start doing it better and better. Let’s take meals as an example, how many of us have breakfast as soon as we wake up because we are just used to it? Or we have lunch at 12:30 also simply because it is the normal lunchtime; but have you ever stopped to ask yourself if you are really hungry? Do you listen to what your body is asking you, or do we act on impulses or habits?
  2. Drink plenty of water: This point is undoubtedly one of the best known, and we all know about its importance. Drinking at least two liters of water every day will improve your day thanks to its great benefits: it reduces the risk of heart problems, prevents headaches and migraines, aids in digestion, maintains the beauty of the skin and hair, improves the immune system, reduces the risk of cancer, and also prevents bad breath.
  3. Keep a healthy and balanced diet: Here we are not talking about avoiding a type of food at all, but it is important to incorporate foods that give us energy, are natural and healthy. Primarily incorporating 3 fruits and 2 servings of vegetables per day. Start small, and your body will appreciate it.
  4. Exercise daily at least 20 minutes: Even if you are not a fan of physical activity, at least try 20 minutes of the activity you prefer: go for a walk, go to the gym, dance, etc. This will help you prevent diseases and health problems, help you sleep better and improve your mood.
  5. Practice meditation: For many of us, this can be frustrating at first. I hear many people say they can’t connect and don’t know how to meditate, but it’s simpler than it sounds. Just take at least 10 minutes out of your day to close your eyes, breathe deeply, and connect with your body and your thoughts. This will help you connect your soul, body, and mind. Another exercise you can do is to write. Take a piece of paper and simply write down your thoughts to help you put them in order. Do this, and you will see how you will start to notice all those unconscious thoughts and feelings that even help your daily procrastination.
  6. Having a healthy sleep routine: Try to sleep between 7 and 8 hours a day, and to make sure you sleep well, stop using screens at least one hour before going to bed. If you start reading or meditating before going to sleep, it will help you improve sleep quality.
