If you’re looking for a wonderful weekend in Gainesville, Florida, this article is the one for you!

Gainesville is a relatively small college town with lots of southern charm, as well as the ubiquitous palm trees that Florida is known for.

It’s a great place for nature lovers, as there are quite a few outdoor activities nearby, plus some indoor adventures too.

Keep in mind that during the school year, the population nearly doubles, which can mean big city traffic in a city that isn’t really equipped for it.

Where to Stay

To be in the middle of the nightlife and within walking distance of tons of great restaurants and bars, I recommend staying downtown at either the Hampton Inn & Suites, or the Hyatt Place.

Although, if you like to go to bed early and don’t want to being kept up by drunk college kids, I recommend staying at the Drury Inn & Suites, or the DoubleTree, by the intersection of I-75 and Archer Road.

Archer Road is one of the main roads running through Gainesville, and this intersection has about 10 hotels to choose from.

Once you’ve checked into your hotel, the next order of business should always be food.
