Want to track your sleep, get help falling asleep, or find a gentler way to wake up? There’s an app for that. If you have an iPhone or a smartphone running Android you have access to a variety of apps that can help you fall asleep, monitor your sleep, and wake you up. Here are three awesome apps to help you get the best sleep ever.

Sleep as Android — Android

You run this app on your phone, and you place your phone near you on your bed. It can play soothing sounds to help you fall asleep. It will track snoring, sleep states, sleep talking, and more. This app has a smart alarm feature, which will wake you when you are in a light sleep state -helping you wake up feeling less groggy. The app also has the option to connect with various smart watches. It comes with a two week free trial so you can try it out and see if it fits your needs. The app, and more information on it, can be found on the Google Play Store — https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.sleep.

Sleep Cycle — iPhone & Android

Sleep Cycle also lets you track your sleep cycles. The app will monitor your sleep by using the phone’s microphone or its accelerometer. Using the microphone has the benefit of being able to place your phone on a desk or nightstand where you are less likely to push it off. Your data is displayed in graphs that you can add handy notes to; like, “drank coffee in the evening” or “stressful day”. This app also has the smart alarm feature, and can be found on the Apple App Store –https://itunes.apple.com/app/apple-store/id320606217?mt=8 — and on the Google Play Store — https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.northcube.sleepcycle&hl=en.

SleepBot — iPhone & Android

This app contains many of the core features of the other apps, without the cost! You get sleep cycle tracking, sound recording, smart alarm, sleep debt log, and many other features. The app also comes with hits for falling asleep and staying awake. For a free app it packs a lot of useful features. You can find it on the Apple App Store — https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id578829107?mt=8 — and on the Google Play Store — https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lslk.sleepbot.

Knowledge is power and these apps can give you a lot of information on sleep patterns. You can use them to see if a sleep routine is working well for you or how shift work is affecting your sleep. Give these apps a try and see how much you can learn about your own sleeping patterns.
