The grass is starting to grow, the birds are chirping again, and warm sunny days have reappeared. We made it to spring. Woohoo! Spring is the perfect time for refreshing and restarting, especially in your home.

I always feel like my house could use a makeover after the long winter to bring the freshness of spring indoors. But as per usual, my budget for frivolous decorating and furniture purchases is non-existent. So I’ve come up with a few quick and easy ways to freshen your home for spring, without breaking the bank.

Do a little spring cleaning

Ugh, I know we all hate it. But taking the time to tackle a few cleaning projects can seriously freshen your house up. Literally and figuratively. Wash the walls, windows, and cabinets. Give the whole house a solid dusting, top to bottom. And clean out the clutter! Now is the time to reevaluate your belongings and toss or donate stuff that’s simply taking up space. You’ll be amazed at how much lighter and brighter things look after a good clean.

Swap out your accents

Don’t have the cash to spare for major furniture or appliance purchases? Let yourself indulge in a few small ticket items to satisfy your shopping urge and change up your decor. Accent pillows, picture frames, and pretty candles are a good place to start.

Add some greenery

Embrace the spring season and bring some much needed colour to your home. Plant a few indoor herbs, pick up a new potted plant, and place a vases or jars of freshly cut flowers anywhere you like. Plants and flowers are not only pretty to look at, but they help purify and clean the air in your home. Now that’s a double whammy of freshness!
