This smoothie is so good that I almost felt guilty having it for breakfast. ALMOST. But not quite — because despite the rich, creamy texture and the fact that is tastes like chocolate pudding, it’s actually packed with healthy goodness.

I used chocolate hemp bliss as my liquid of choice today because I’d found it on sale last time I was in the grocery store and wanted to try it out, but I’ve also included an alternative using cocoa and whatever milk or non-dairy alternative you want to use.

I usually do my fruit smoothies without adding any sweeteners, but you can adjust to your personal tastes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen peach chunks
  • 2–3 tbsp hemp hearts
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder and 1 cup of whatever “milk” you want OR 1 cup chocolate flavour “milk” (just be aware of sugar content here if your milk is sweetened)
  • dash of vanilla
  • dash of cinnamon
  • optional — if your peaches aren’t frozen you might want to throw in a few ice cubes to get that super chilly, slushy effect
  • optional — if you used plain nut milk and cocoa and you like your smoothies sweeter, you might want to add a touch of stevia, honey or maple syrup to taste.

Equipment

  • Vitamix or other food processor

The Process

STEP 1: Well, there’s really only one actual step to this. Throw everything in the blender and blend it all up until it’s smooth and creamy.

STEP 2: Put it into your stomach, via a glass or your favourite drinking jar!
