Wemark releases tokens for transfer and launches the marketplace with two licensing options changing the future of stock photography
Today, we’re proud to announce Wemark’s two most significant milestones yet. Drumroll, please….
Following Wemark’s successful token sale and the distribution of tokens to thousands of recipients across the globe, we have officially released the tokens for transfer and use on our marketplace.
Along the release of tokens, which enables Wemark Impress to go live, today also marks the arrival of Wemark Go — our new pricing model which completely disrupts the industry’s subscription model.
To celebrate this milestone, for a limited time, we’re giving away free 3-month memberships and lots of free downloads but you’ll have to read on to get the details.
Launching Wemark Go & Wemark Impress:
In case you missed it, here’s a quick recap of our two innovative licensing options that have generated so much buzz over the past few weeks.
Wemark Go is our most affordably priced option for your everyday image needs. While most platforms require customers to buy monthly image packs to get affordable prices, we’ve created a completely new model, based on memberships, which is cheaper for customers but still allows us to pay 100% royalties to photographers. Buyers download images when they need them, without bulk commitments and expiring, non-refundable, credits, and pay as little as $0.27 to $0.95 per download.
Wemark Impress is our take on premium stock photography — a collection of images priced at $25-$500, primed and ready to license when you need something to make your project stand out. It’s an alternative to the pricey premium collections launched by other platforms over the past few years, where photographers receive only a fraction of the revenue. Hundreds of thousands of images are already available on Wemark Impress, and more added daily.
As we mentioned above, today’s announcement means all WMK token holders can finally start using their tokens to license images on Wemark.
What to expect from today’s launch
While we’re confident about the platform, we recognize that any new product needs to be tested with real users so we can learn what’s working, what’s not, and how we can make it even better. Today’s soft-launch will help us test and improve our platform before our public launch in a few months. With this, we invite creatives everywhere — whether you’re wearing a million hats at a startup or a creative director at a major ad agency — to try us out, search for images, license them, and tell us what you think.
The next exciting milestone on the horizon is credit card payments. We believe this will enable all customers, crypto savvy or not, to use our platform and join our community — an important step towards mass adoption.
Credit card payments will not replace the use of tokens, as with the implementation of our unique system, all payments will be automatically converted to WMK and will eventually take place in tokens.
This will enable millions of potential customers to join our ecosystem and will let all its stakeholders benefit from the increasing adoption, by aligning the value of WMK, our dedicated currency, to the growth of the ecosystem.
WMK tokens are now released for transfer and use
Last August, we successfully concluded our token sale with contributors from 66 different countries. The distribution of tokens to thousands of early supporters went through the end of 2018, while all tokens were still locked for transfer or use — the only thing preventing buyers from licensing images on the marketplace.
We’ve just released all tokens for transfer, enabling customers to license any of the images on our marketplace.
Unlike image credits or gift cards, our digital tokens are completely transferable, giving customers the flexibility to sell or transfer them to anyone, whenever they want.
To expand this flexibility and provide photographers with easier ways to convert their earned tokens to other currencies, we expect Wemark Tokens to be traded on several cryptocurrency exchanges. We already have agreements to list WMK on a couple of exchanges, and will announce the final date and details in the coming weeks.
