Wemark product update — May 2019
We’re proud to launch two critical components to our marketplace: advanced search filters and credit card payments.
Four months after soft-launching the Wemark marketplace, we’re adding two major components that will drastically improve user experience and will make the marketplace more accessible than ever.
With the fastly growing collection of great stock images on our marketplace, comes the need to better organize the search results and assist customers with finding the best images to their very specific needs. We’re adding advanced filters to allow customers to refine their results according to various new search options.
In addition to payments with WMK, our dedicated marketplace token, we’re launching credit card payments for all our existing licensing options. This long-awaited milestone is crucial for new customers, which aren’t necessarily familiar with cryptocurrency, to access our marketplace seamlessly.
Advanced Search Filters
We’ve worked hard to make Wemark the perfect choice for photographers, and plenty of them are now organically joining the marketplace every day. Since our collection is growing fast, we needed to make sure customers find the perfect images as fast as possible, without making them navigate through thousands of images that aren’t relevant for their needs.
For example — if a customer is looking for a wide image for the header of his brand new website, he’ll need to browse through plenty of vertical images. With so many images, this can be a rather frustrating experience.
We’ve been focused on this problem and are now launching 5 new search filters.
Content Type
Looking for photos, illustrations, or both? If you’re only looking for one of those types, this filter will save you time and only show you the type of images you really need.
Background Type
Isolated images (images with a solid-color background) are pretty useful, but customers who search for them will be usually looking for isolated images only. This new filter allows you to specifically search for isolated images, or remove those from search.
Color Type
Some images are submitted in a Black & White format. Those images usually look better than standard images that have been converted to Black & White using a photo editing software. This filter allows you to search only Black & White images, or remove them from search.
Orientation
To allow for maximum creativity and get the best possible images, we’re not putting restrictions on the orientation of submitted images. For customers who have a more specific vision for the image they’re looking for, we’re adding 4 orientation options to choose from — Horizontal, Vertical, Panorama, and Square.
Other Filters — The Special Sauce
To go beyond the familiar search experience and explore new options to improve search, we’re releasing AI-generated filters in beta. These are special filters, created automatically, to capture specific attributes of images which traditional filters can’t recognize. For example, you can now search for images with a “close-up” shot, images with people smiling, or images that are essentially sad.
Credit Card Payments
Starting today, credit card payments will become available for all our existing licensing options, in addition to WMK, our dedicated marketplace currency.
This is a crucial component of our evolving marketplace. It allows all customers, including those who aren’t familiar with cryptocurrency and how to use it, to access the marketplace seamlessly.
Credit card payments are made possible thanks to our integration with Paddle. You can now pay for licenses and Wemark Go memberships using all major debit/credit cards.
Wemark will automatically send WMK tokens to creators for every credit card purchase. All funds collected from credit card payments will be then converted to ETH, and used to buy-back tokens on exchanges. The tokens will be purchased with the full ETH amount received by converting the funds, based on buy orders according to the marketplace’s WMK price, which is currently $0.2 per WMK.
