New Year’s Address and WEMIX Purchase Plan by Kwan-ho Park, Chairman of WEMADE

Dear WEMIX community and investors,

2022 has been a year full of trials for a new leap forward for WEMIX.

With the launch of WEMIX3.0 the Mainnet, key platforms such as WEMIX PLAY, NILE, and WEMIX.Fi were developed to successfully establish the platform-driven mega-ecosystem WEMADE and WEMIX aspires to. However, due to ineffective communication with the market, four Korean exchanges have suspended transaction support for WEMIX, causing uncertainty in the community and the investment market. There are no words to accurately describe the disappointment and inconvenience felt by many, resulting from recent events.

Leaving 2022 behind, the year where we have realized both potential and strictness of the market, in 2023, we will deepen our technical understanding to explore new leading technologies and achieve a higher level of blockchain-related security; horizontally, and vertically expand diversity and magnitude of the WEMIX mega-ecosystem through new partnerships and projects; and above all, make every effort to increase the value of WEMIX based on technology and utility.

Moreover, we will add the following vision pillars to expand our platform-based ecosystem.

First, WEMIX will focus on the strict and thorough management of the circulating supply.

Based on the circulating supply plan announced at the end of last year, WEMIX foundation has been converting the pre-planned amount of WEMIX into circulatable state on a monthly basis. The WEMIX foundation has also continued its communication with the community to transparently disclose the use of funds in the form of investments and marketing via official announcements. In order to provide enhanced stability to the investment market regarding the execution of the WEMIX circulating supply plan, the actual circulating supply of WEMIX will better reflect the publicly disclosed circulating supply by modifying the Vesting Plan to a Supply Limit. The WEMIX foundation will also consider the voice and feedback of the community to clearly address the process and the intention of future investments. Through these measures, WEMIX will make pragmatic and meaningful investments which benefit the WEMIX ecosystem and strive to reform potential concerns related to increase in circulating supply into encouragement and expectation for the growth of the ecosystem.

Second, WEMIX aims to become the World’s most transparent ecosystem.

Blockchain offers unrivaled transparency. However, technological barriers and unfamiliar experiences prevent easy access to the network. WEMIX3.0 strives to lead the way towards developing a platform where anyone can access information in a fair environment, and build trust established on transparency. Based on the original philosophy of blockchain, WEMIX will enable and secure real-time transparency to the extent that post-reports or audit processes will not be necessary for sponsorships, donations, joint property management and even finance.

Third, WEMIX ecosystem will present limitless opportunities.

The characteristic of the platform’s two-sided market is that both suppliers and consumers are customers of the platform; the platform should not only encompass good content, but also function as a distributor to improve the process of engagement between suppliers and consumers. Furthermore, an ideal platform should also encourage consumers to invent and develop contents to become suppliers for other new consumers within the ecosystem. The blockchain ecosystem has reached the stage of joint authoring and consumption through a community represented by decentralized organizations, to the degree that such dichotomous thinking of supply and demand has become meaningless.

By implementing such characteristics of a blockchain-based platform, WEMIX will utilize NFTs to prove one’s ownership over contents and intellectual property, utilize DAO to develop and distribute unique contents to the community, and to evolve and innovate the IP business through unlimited opportunities, guaranteed rights, and joint growth.

Lastly, WEMIX envisions to positively impact the World.

A transparent world where opportunities are open to everyone. This statement summarizes the ideal world everyone yearns for which is also the vision of the WEMIX ecosystem. The WEMIX ecosystem will impact the world positively by establishing a transparent environment in which opportunities are equally available to all individuals. A transparent world where differences in geographical, educational, wealth, and geopolitical status or information asymmetry results in limitation of opportunity.

2023 will be the year in which WEMIX3.0 will flourish and thrive through implementation of our vision on the platform foundation that has been built so far. WEMIX will secure technical superiority, wide range of utilities, transparency and security to enhance the value of WEMIX that has been stagnant since the end of 2022 by strengthening our communication with the market.

As the leader of WEMADE and WEMIX, I would like to express my complete trust and support to all employees, including CEO Henry Chang. Also, as a member of the WEMIX community and to express my sincerity towards the project, I will proceed with purchasing WEMIX through the listed market.

The first purchase of WEMIX illustrated below was carried out from May to October of last year, and the total number of WEMIX purchased will not be sold until October 25, 2023, as promised to the community.

In accordance with last year’s purchase, approximately 30 billion KRW(approximately US $24M) worth of WEMIX will be purchased this year via domestic exchange. As soon as the purchase is complete, the result will be disclosed to the community, and the amount will not be sold or disposed of for one year from the purchase completion date. The set period is solely for explicit commitment; no sales will be made until expansion and stability of the ecosystem has sufficiently been fulfilled and the value of WEMIX reaches a point where recent concerns involving the circulating supply are settled. In the future, once all conditions are met, proper announcements will be made in order to thoroughly inform the community of the sale.

This action will demonstrate my participation as a member of the WEMIX community, and prove that my future, along with the company’s future, is aligned with the success of WEMIX. Further on, as an investor and member of the community, I promise to take the initiative to improve any inconvenience of irrationality caused by activities and investments within the ecosystem through firsthand experience.

There is not a hint of a doubt that 2023 will be the year in which the blockchain ecosystem and digital economy that WEMADE and WEMIX have dreamed of will be accomplished, and the moment to regain and solidify the trust of our community and investors through fair opportunities and transparency.

I would like to take this valuable opportunity to express my sincere gratitude towards all our community and investors who have shown unconditional support. As a member of the community and as an investor, I will march together on this journey towards the success of WEMIX.

박관호 위메이드 이사회 의장의 신년사 및 위믹스 매입 계획

위믹스 커뮤니티와 투자자 여러분들,

2022년은 위믹스에 있어 새로운 도약을 준비하는 해이자 큰 시련의 해였습니다.

메인넷 위믹스3.0의 가동과 함께 위믹스플레이, 나일, 그리고 위믹스파이의 플랫폼을 연달아 선보이면서 위메이드와 위믹스가 지향하는 플랫폼이 주도하는 거대한 생태계를 출범시켰습니다. 그러나, 시장과의 미숙한 커뮤니케이션으로 인해 4개의 한국거래소에서 거래지원을 중단하는 일이 발생함으로써 커뮤니티와 투자시장에 혼란을 야기하였으며, 이 부분에 대해서는 송구한 마음을 금할 수 없습니다.

이렇게 가능성과 시장의 엄정함을 깨닫게 해 준 2022년을 뒤로 하고 맞이하는 2023년에, 아래로는 블록체인 관련 안정성과 선도적 기술을 탐구하기 위한 기술적 깊이를 더하고, 좌우로는 위믹스 생태계를 함께 할 파트너들과의 제휴, 프로젝트의 유치를 통해 생태계의 다양성과 크기를 넓히겠으며, 위로는 기술과 효용을 기반으로 한 위믹스의 가치 상승을 위한 전사적 노력을 다 할 계획입니다.

이에 지금까지 진행해왔던 플랫폼 기반의 생태계 확장에 아래의 비전을 더하고자 합니다.

첫째, 올 한해는 더욱 더 엄정한 유통량 관리에 주력하겠습니다.

위믹스 재단은 작년 말 발표한 유통계획에 의거, 매월 계획된 양을 유통시키고, 투자와 마케팅 활동 등의 집행 시 다시 한번 사전 공시를 통해 그 취지와 방식을 커뮤니티와 소통하고 있습니다. 이러한 위믹스 유통계획의 실행 방식에 있어서 투자 시장에 좀 더 안정감을 주기 위해, 기존의 유통계획(vesting plan)을 유통한도(supply limit)로 변경하고 실제 사용시 공시 후 집행이 될 수 있도록 변경하여, 대외적으로 공개된 유통량이 실제 유통량과 일치하도록 하겠습니다. 또한, 투자의 집행에 있어서도 사전공시 뿐만 아니라 커뮤니티의 피드백을 수렴하여 투자의 방향과 방식에 대한 개선을 진행하겠습니다. 이를 통해, 위믹스 투자는 위믹스 생태계에 실질적이고 의미있는 도움이 되는 것임을 커뮤니티와 공감대를 이루고, 이러한 투자가 유통에 대한 우려가 아닌 성장을 위한 응원을 이끌어 낼 수 있도록 하겠습니다.

둘째, 세계에서 가장 투명한 위믹스 생태계를 만들겠습니다.

블록체인은 매우 투명한 네트워크입니다. 그러나, 기술적 장벽과 익숙하지 못한 경험은 그 투명한 네트워크에 쉽게 접근하는 것을 방해합니다. 위믹스3.0이 추구하는, 누구나 모든 정보에 공정한 환경에서 더욱 쉽게 접근하여 커뮤니티가 함께 그 투명성을 기반으로 믿음을 쌓을 수 있는 플랫폼을 개발하고 위믹스가 그 길에 앞장서겠습니다. 특히 후원, 기부, 공동의 재산관리, 나아가 금융에 이르기까지도, 사후 보고서나 감사의 과정이 필요하지 않을 정도로 확보되는 실시간 투명성을 바탕으로 블록체인이 지향하는 본연의 철학에 입각한 생태계를 위믹스를 중심으로 만들어가겠습니다.

셋째, 더 많은 기회가 존재하는 위믹스 생태계를 만들겠습니다.

플랫폼이 갖는 양면시장의 특성은 공급자와 수요자 모두 플랫폼의 고객이며, 플랫폼은 좋은 콘텐츠 뿐만 아니라 그 가능성을 찾고 있는 수요자들이 이들을 발굴하고 더 완성된 콘텐츠로 발전시켜 다시 새로운 수요자를 찾는 공급자의 역할까지 할 수 있도록 해줘야 합니다. 특히, 블록체인 생태계는 이러한 수요와 공급의 이분법적 사고가 무의미할 정도로 탈중앙화조직으로 대표되는 커뮤니티를 이루어 공동저작, 공동소비의 경지까지 이르게 되었습니다.

위믹스는 이러한 블록체인 기반 플랫폼의 특성을 살려, NFT를 활용하여 누구나 자신의 저작물과 지적재산권에 대한 권리와 소유를 증명하고, 이들이 다시 커뮤니티에 의해 더 좋은 콘텐츠로 거듭나는 DAO를 활용, 누구에게나 기회가 열려있고, 권리를 보장받으며, 함께 성장을 추구할 수 있는 IP사업의 진화와 혁신을 이루겠습니다.

넷째, 더 좋은 세상을 만드는 위믹스 생태계를 만들겠습니다.

누구에게나 기회가 열려있는 투명한 세상. 전 세계가 꿈꾸는 지향점이고, 이는 동시에 앞서 말씀드린 위믹스 생태계의 비전을 하나의 구절로 요약한 것입니다. 위믹스와 위믹스 생태계는 누구를 특정 시장이나 국가에 국한하지 않으며, 투명성을 특정 조직의 목표와 맞게 한정하지 않고, 전세계 지역의 차이, 빈부의 차이, 교육수준의 차이, 지정학적 차이, 그리고 정보의 차이로 인해 삶이 제한받지 않는 말 그대로 누구에게나 기회가 열려있는 투명한 세상의 기반을 만들겠습니다. 이것이 위메이드와 위믹스가 할 수 있는 더 좋은 세상을 만드는 방법이라 굳게 믿습니다.

2023년은 그간 구축해왔던 플랫폼의 기반 위에 가치의 비전을 더함으로써 기술적 우위, 다양한 효용성, 그리고 투명성과 보안을 완비하는 위믹스3.0 완성의 원년으로 만들고, 2022년 말 이후 정체되어 있는 위믹스의 가치 또한 시장과의 소통 강화를 통해 개선하도록 하겠습니다.

이러한 의미에서 저는 위메이드와 위믹스의 수장으로서 장현국 대표를 비롯한 전임직원에게 무한한 신뢰와 지지를 보내고, 동시에 위믹스 커뮤티니의 일원으로서 위믹스에 대한 저의 진심을 표하고자 거래소를 통한 위믹스 매입을 진행하고자 합니다.

작년 5월에 시작하여 10월에 마무리된 위믹스 1차 매입은 아래와 같이 진행되었으며, 해당 매입분은 2023년 10월 25일까지 매도하지 않기로 커뮤니티와 약속하였습니다.

올해도 전년과 동일하게 300억원 가량의 사재를 투입하여 국내 거래소에서 위믹스를 매입하겠습니다. 해당 매입도 완료되는대로 유관부서의 커뮤니케이션을 통해 커뮤니티에 그 결과를 공개하고 매입완료일로부터 1년동안 일체의 매도나 처분을 하지 않을 계획입니다. 1년은 명시적 약속을 위한 기간일 뿐, 위믹스 생태계의 확장, 위믹스 가치의 성장이 충분히 이루어져, 생태계의 안정성과 가치에 대한 신뢰를 기반으로 위믹스의 유통량이 더 이상 이슈가 되지 않을 때까지 계속 보유하겠습니다. 또한, 이 모든 조건이 성숙되어 위믹스를 처분하게 된다 하더라도 적절한 공시를 통해 해당 사실을 커뮤니티와 소통할 것을 약속드립니다. 이를 통해, 저 또한 위믹스 커뮤니티의 일원임을 여러분께 알리고 인정받으며, 저와 회사의 미래가 위믹스의 미래와 일치화되었음을 증명하고, 나아가 투자자로서, 위믹스 생태계의 일원으로서 이러한 생태계 활동과 투자 활동에서 야기되는 불편함이나 비합리성에 대해 몸으로 직접 체감하며 솔선수범하여 개선해 나가겠습니다.

2023년은 위메이드와 위믹스가 꿈꿔왔던 블록체인 생태계와 디지털 이코노미의 완성이 되는 해이자, 공정한 기회와 투명성으로 커뮤니티와 투자자들의 믿음을 되찾고 공고히 하는 해가 되길 진심으로 바랍니다.
