Wemade kicks off the national amateur tennis tournament “WEMIX OPEN 2024” with Chungcheong qualifiers on June 15, launching a four-month event.
Wemade organized this large-scale amateur tennis tournament to promote blockchain technology. Utilizing the blockchain-based social platform Wepublic, the event aims to provide a more accessible Web3 experience.
Under the slogan “The Beginning of a Rally Toward a Better World,” the tournament will feature 2,800 athletes from 1,460 teams competing for a 50,000 WEMIX prize pool across men’s/women’s singles and doubles, mixed singles and doubles, and team events.
In alignment with the event’s purpose, prize winners will receive an equivalent amount of WEMIX as “Wepublic Sponsorship Grants,” allowing them to donate to chosen projects using Wepulic’s new sponsorship feature.
Wemade will conduct regional qualifiers across eight regions from June 15th to September 29th. The finalists will compete at the Jangchung Tennis Court in Seoul on October 19th and 20th.
The Chungcheong region qualifiers took place on June 15th and 16th at the MMOVE Tennis Cheonan Branch, with 320 participants from 176 teams registered through Wepublic. The top 21 teams (excluding category winners) advancing to the semifinals received both prize money and sponsorship grants, which they now utilize to engage in sponsorship activities on Wepublic.
Ji-Yeon Jang, a participant in the men’s doubles qualifiers, remarked, “It was a wonderful event where people of all ages could come together. It was significant to enjoy playing tennis and simultaneously contribute to society through sponsorships.”

㈜위메이드(대표 박관호)에서 주최하는 전국 아마추어 테니스 대회 ‘위믹스 오픈 2024(WEMIX OPEN 2024)’가 6월 15일(토) 충청도 지역 예선을 시작으로 4개월 간의 대장정에 돌입했다.
위메이드는 블록체인 기술 대중화를 위해, 대규모 아마추어 테니스 대회를 기획했다. 이번 대회는 블록체인 기반 소셜 플랫폼 ‘위퍼블릭(Wepublic)’을 활용해, 보다 친숙하게 웹3 경험을 제공할 계획이다.
‘더 나은 세상을 향한 랠리의 시작’이라는 슬로건 아래 열리는 이번 대회에는 1,460개 팀 소속 선수 2,800여 명이 참가한다. 대회 총 상금은 50,000 위믹스(WEMIX)로, ▲남녀복식 ▲남녀단식 ▲혼합복식 ▲남녀단체전 등 참가종목 별 순위에 따라 차등 지급된다.
상금 수령자에게는 대회 취지에 맞춰 상금과 동일한 위믹스를 ‘위퍼블릭 후원 지원금’으로 추가 수여한다. 위퍼블릭에 새로 추가된 위믹스 후원하기 기능을 이용해 자신이 희망하는 후원 프로젝트에 기부할 수 있다.
위메이드는 6월 15일(토)부터 9월 29일(일)까지 전국을 8개 지역으로 구분해 예선전을 진행한다. 결선 진출자들은 10월 19일(토)과 20일(일) 서울 장충테니스장에서 승부를 가릴 예정이다.
충청도 지역 예선은 6월 15일(토)과 16일(일) 엠무브천안점에서 열렸다. 위퍼블릭을 통해 참가 신청한 176개 팀 총 320명이 경합했으며, 4강에 진출한 총 21개 팀(부문별 우승팀 제외)에게 상금과 후원 지원금이 주어졌다. 이를 활용해 수상팀들은 위퍼블릭에서 후원 활동에 참여하고 있다.
남자복식 예선에 출전한 장지연씨는 “남녀노소 모두 함께 어울릴 수 있는 즐거운 대화였다”며, “재밌게 테니스도 치고, 사회에 도움이 되는 후원에도 참여할 수 있어서 정말 뜻깊은 시간이었다”고 말했다.
