We all know the feeling. You set up some mods or start using a trainer for your PC game, and then BAM! The game has an automatic update and breaks all the fun you were having. The wait for an up-to-date mod or trainer begins.

Game updates have been a growing problem each year as games are updated more frequently. Just look at the update history for They Are Billions. You’ll see over 17 updates over 45 days, which, on average, is a new update every 60 hours.

Game developers frequently push updates for minor bugs that affect a small minority of players, and when platforms like Steam force you to update, it’s anyone’s guess if mods developed for a previous game version will continue to work. Instead of playing the guessing game, let’s keep playing the game we want with the mods we want.

Version Guard is our solution to game update compatibility with trainers and mods. It allows you to freely update your games while giving you the ability to play a version that you’ve previously had installed without ever touching the game’s directory. Each game update is saved as a snapshot that contains game version information and compressed data required to rebuild the version. Only data that has changed will be stored, so the function uses as little disk space as possible.

Version guard activates an older game version, so the trainer still works.

WeMod’s PC game modding app, Infinity, uses Version Guard to run versions of your games that are proven to be compatible with trainers. This gives creators time to update their trainers, and makes it so you don’t have to wait to get back into the fun!

Version Guard is being internally beta tested and will be released in Infinity 4. And it’s coming very, very soob™.

As always, you can download Infinity at wemod.com.
