Day 18 — Write Down What Kind of Tree Around Your House When You Were Small
I used to have two “homes” when I was little. One was my father’s factory with a traditional courtyard house while the other was our apartment where I slept and lived. Since the apartment was on my side of the road with sidewalk in front of it and near was a shopping mall, there was no tree.
However, the courtyard house, though just 10 km away from the apartment, was located in the countryside with lots of farmlands around it. During fall, you could see rice stretching to the horizon. So beautiful.
There was a very tall mango tree. It was not common mango tree. It wouldn’t have the mango you see in any ice shop in Taiwan. It was a mango tree that produced Taiwan-orginal mango (suāinn-á). In summer, Father would take small stones to hit into the tree and the mangos would fall down. Or we could take a long stick, probably 4–5 meter-high, stretch it into the leaves and pull with very strong streghth. Mangos would fall down in that way. It was a special tree since it had all of these memory.
