A week ago, the man who fired her even tried hard to persuade her to take the job.

Sarah stood in front of her company’s gate with a box of few stuff in her hands. She was shocked and confused. She didn’t know how this could happen to her. Tears rolled in her eyes for a few seconds and then fell down.

Two weeks ago, she also stood here, so excited about getting the interview to DAZED, a magazine that all girls and women would like to work for. She was lucky having one of her friends already work here who can be her reference. After the internal reference procedure and a phone call interview, she got the ticket to meet HR and do official interview in DAZED.

The talk with Charles, the HR, went smoothly. He told Sarah to wait for a second while he went to ask if the first assistant of Ms. Lan is avaible.

Yes, she was interview for the second assistant as the character Anne Hathaway played in the movie The Devil Wears Prada. 5 minutes later, Linda showed up. She stepped into the room in Jimmy Choo’s heels and Chanel’s dress. Looked very cold and unfriendly, but she was actually nice when talking.

After hearing Linda’s explanation of the details of the job, Sarah hesitated. She wanted the job so much but being an assistant meant you had to stand by all the times. Not to mention Ms Lan has two assistants means a LOT of work to do.

However, Linda tried hard to persuade her. “It may be tired but it is worthsome. You will learn a lot from it, meet a lot of celebrity, go shooting with movie stars, and reach the latest fashion. Why not? Give yourself a chance.”

Yeah, why not?

Sarah said yes and began her journey on the second day.

But it was TOTALLY a mess. The whole week was a mess. There were so many things to do. Though she tried her best, she always made mistake, either bringing wrong coffee for Ms Lan, or just not quickly enough. After Ms Lan left, Linda always shouted at her, yelling her to get more quickly.

Sarah didn’t even know how she got home every day. The weekend was also full of messages in LINE group and e-mails. She couldn’t remember whether she slept over 30 hours in the past week.

The next thing she could really remember was she got kicked out of office on Monday morning. One week! Just ONE week!

Sarah though to herself, “yeah, maybe Ms Lan is Miranda, but Linda is definitely not Emily, and neither am I Andrea.”
