Is It Time To Call It Watchwomen?
At last, the Silk Spectre has arrived. Jean Smart’s role as Laurie Blake aka the Silk Spectre in Watchmen has been teased since the trailer. We don’t see her until the third episode in the series and it was worth it!
Blake’s superhero days are over. She is working for the FBI on their Anti-vigilante task force. Arresting wannabe batmans sounds like an entertaining career path. But the FBI has other plans for her and sends her to investigate Judd Crawford’s death in Tulsa. This puts her on a collision course with Angela Abar.
The action is interspersed with her making a phone call to Mars. Apparently you can leave a voicemail for Dr. Manhatten. Talk about a long-distance relationship. We learn that they are no longer together despite how much Blake would like that to be different.
Oh and let’s not forget she carries around a giant blue dildo to remind herself of her lost love. I say this every week but this show is weird. Not to kink-shame Laurie Blake, it’s a pretty fantastic size and a clear nod to the well-endowed Dr. Manhatten. She does ditch the dildo for the much-younger man down the hall. Much-younger man v’s giant dildo, I suppose the younger man would win, too. And have we mentioned, Angela’s aka Sister Night's relationship with her very attractive husband?
