Rabat, Morocco April ’17 — Hello Africa!
The month of April brought our Polaris group to the stunning landscapes of Morocco. Based in the capital city, Rabat, Roamers took advantage of the many nearby not-to-miss destinations- Marrakech, Fez, and the Sahara desert. They sampled aromatic tajine and couscous lunches, explored the winding market streets of the famous Medinas, and even got up close and personal with some camels!
The convenient train system and access to affordable private drivers made weekend getaways and day trips around the country an irresistible option for the more adventurous. Among other things, Marrakech is a great place to explore colorful gardens overflowing with exotic flowers, lush vines, and colorful mosaics — Majorelle and Yves St Laurent were two standout favorites. Contrasting the hectic streets and markets, travelers found shady and relaxing Riads (a traditional Moroccan house built around a central courtyard) a perfect escape when the bright sun and bustling streets became overwhelming.
The Medina of Fez, founded in the 9th century and an important historical fixture, provided endless shopping, including an expansive leather tannery… forcing more than one Roamer to need an additional suitcase when departing Morocco. When Roamers were shopped out and ready for a break from city life, they sampled authentic desert experiences — including glamping tents, camel treks, and feasts served under the stars in the Sahara desert.
Despite frequent weekend getaways, the weekdays were filled with Roamers hard at work at the stunning workspace, 7AY (pronounced HEY), and attending interesting professional development events which included an event on happiness and social connectivity that featured We Roam co-founder, Nathan Yates, as one of the guest speakers. Bright open spaces, catered homemade lunches, and stunning rooftop views also made 7AY a desirable and inspiring place to work, whether that was taking conference calls with clients back home or collaborating with other Roamers on personal projects.

The month of May has us heading north to Europe where we will spend the next 5 months. Barcelona, Spain is our first stop, and we are looking forward to reigniting our Spanish, toasting with Sangria, indulging in paella, and exploring the nearby beaches and wineries of the region! And of course, more workspaces with inviting terraces (pictured above).
