Creator Spotlight: YaShi Designs by Bharti Trivedi
YaShi Designs is a fiber arts studio based in Milpitas, California. Working with ethically sourced fibers from India and the United States, artist Bharti Trivedi derives her inspiration from natural elements and weaves her sensory experiences in the wilderness into textured wall hangings to bring the outside in. Each piece adds a warm accent to a range of interior styles, whether it be a minimalist entryway or a beach house bedroom. Easily mounted, they are a tasteful solution for an empty wall, or a thoughtful house-warming gift. Learn more about YaShi’s process below.
My first source of inspiration was…
My mom was my first artistic inspiration. She is one of those people whose hands are always busy, whether it is painting, sewing or any other craft. I used to watch her keenly and wanted to recreate all her work. Being a good observer, I learned all of her valuable lessons and inherited her skills and talent. I get inspired by colors and textures in nature and its elements, many of my designs reflect this.
The coolest thing about my process is…
I do not have to use fancy tools to get started. Hands are my tools and ideas to manipulate the rope to form a sculpture is needed to get beautiful output. One could see the connection of how knots work together to form an art out of simple rope and unlike art prints it’s not a static accessory, it moves with gentle movement of wind giving it a soul and making it alive. Also, it has limitless possibilities and when manipulated by knots, the tactile nature of fiber gives the final product a totally different look and feel.
I started my business in order to…
Create unique and captivating fiber art for beautiful interiors. I want my art enthusiasts to feel the touch and warmth of human hands in each of the pieces I create. I aim for a timeless aesthetic so that the work can be appreciated for years to come. Having been a creative soul ever since a very young age, I live and breathe creativity and always feel the need to create something beautiful. Four years into motherhood, I discovered macrame and learned knots through youtube videos. It’s now my creative outlet to keep my hands and mind busy. I feel so blessed to be able to do the things I love the most — being a mother and an artist.
Original art/designs are important because…
Original art is unique and is personal to every artist. An artist/creator are those blessed one who could translate their vision/dream into something beautiful which one could relate to and cherish for many years!! Each unique art has its own story of its origin., that story is what makes the art so special and close to one’s heart. We connect ourselves to those memories and we could correlate that feeling every time we see that art..so it holds a special place to me as it’s one of the ways to connect like minded people together.
If I could only bring one tool to a desert island it would be…
I would bring in my husband with me and a good book. In the lap of nature, I would relax and hunt for natural fibers with coconut in my hand.
I’m a part of Wescover because…
It makes my art discoverable online. It’s a great way to connect to designers and art enthusiasts so that we could envision and customize the artwork as per their requirements. Making sure the buyers have a wonderful experience for buying something unique and one of a kind specially made for their space.
