In a discussion the good people at West of the Pond had we came to the conclusion that many players were deserving of such a distinct honor of Player of the Week but the powers at be in the Twitter world will only allow four nominees.

This week, the first of the season, that list included the likes of Sam Vokes of Burnley, newcomer Ahmed Hegazy of West Brom, Christian Eriksen of Tottenham and the first guy off the bench Steve Mounie of Huddersfield. Each player earned there respective stripes on the field and then we left it up to the fans to decide.

With an overwhelming amount of votes, the runaway winner of this weeks POTW honor goes to Christian Eriksen.

Why?

Christian Eriksen was deadly in attack for Tottenham as he was the first point of emphasis in the Hotspurs charge forward. Each and every time Eriksen touched the ball this past weekend, Tottenham was given a chance to score. His threat to the opposing Newcastle side was bloodcurdling, giving the team no chance for a victory. His touch was superb, his class was worldly and his ability on the ball was elusive, just look below.

His play on the field didn’t earn him a goal but it did earn his teammates goals and ultimately a win. His two assists on the day were both beautiful and deadly at the same time. He was the key to victory and ultimately the reason you chose to vote for him.

Winners so far…

Christian Eriksen — 1
