Good morning, everyone! Today will be partly to mostly sunny with just the outside chance for an isolated shower. It’ll be hot, especially for late September, with highs ranging from 82 to 91 degrees. Strenuous outdoor activity is not recommended between 11 AM and 5 PM, and make sure to drink plenty of water.

Tonight expect dry conditions and partly to mostly clear skies. Lows will range from 54 to 63 degrees.

Monday will feature partly sunny skies and the chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm. During the afternoon an onshore flow may allow for ocean fog to push into the coast, so it might not be the perfect beach day. At the very least, the sea breeze will provide some cooling. High temperatures will again be hot nonetheless, ranging from 81 to 90 degrees.

Monday night patchy fog is likely to form, with dense fog possible near the coast. Patchy drizzle/mist is even possible near the coast. Lows will range from 53 to 62 degrees.

Tuesday the fog should recede some, but the immediate coastline may remain clouded in due to an onshore flow. The rest of the area should see partly sunny skies with warm temperatures yet again. Highs will range from 78 to 87 degrees. A shower or thunderstorm is possible, particularly for northeastern portions. Any thunderstorm may produce heavy rain.

Tuesday night patchy fog is again likely for the area, especially over northeastern zones. Patchy drizzle is again possible along the coast. Lows will range from 51 to 60 degrees.

Wednesday fog and clouds will have a hard time lifting across the area, with northwestern areas having the best chance at seeing some sunshine. A cold front will begin approaching the area later in the day, producing some showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder across northern zones. High temperatures will range from 72 to 81 degrees, warmest northwest and coldest southeast.

Wednesday night the cold front will push through the area, bringing with it clouds and showers. A rumble of thunder is possible as well, but instability looks too low for a severe thunderstorm threat at this time. Any showers or thunderstorms may produce brief heavy rain. Low temperatures will range from 52 to 63 degrees, warmest south where the cold front won’t clear until morning Thursday, coldest north where the front will clear later Wednesday evening.

Thursday expect the cold front to push off the coast sometime earlier on in the morning, with skies clearing aggressively by afternoon. Winds will also pick up out of the northwest, with gusts to 25 MPH possible. Temperatures will rise some in the morning south, then level off or fall a bit in the afternoon. Northern areas will see a normal temperature trend throughout the day, though it’ll be markedly colder than previous days. Highs will range from 56 to 73 degrees.

We also must continue to monitor Hurricane Maria. At this point, her track seems to take her somewhere near the Carolina coast by mid-week, then gradually east. This would lead to a low impact scenario here in western Maine, with some surf likely. However, the track of Maria is subject to change and is in no way final, so stay tuned to forecasts over the coming days.

Have a great day!
