Snowstorm With Blizzard Conditions Possible To Impact The Area Tuesday Into Tuesday Night
Good afternoon, everyone! Tonight clouds will continue to increase, with most cloudy by morning. Some snow could sneak into southern areas around dawn. Low temperatures will range from 9 to 20 degrees.
Tuesday will start off mostly cloudy, with snow working its way in during the morning south. Expect light snow to gradually spread north throughout the morning, with some moderate-heavy snow making its way into southwestern zones around lunchtime.
By afternoon it’ll be snowing heavily south and winds will be picking up as well, especially along the coastline. Expect snow rates to continue picking up across southern areas through late afternoon, with peak snowfall rates up to 4 inches per hour late afternoon through early evening hours. Roads will become nearly impassible during this time, and travel is not recommended. Winds will also create blizzard or near blizzard conditions for the entire coast, even if snow rates aren’t as extreme as southwestern zones will be seeing. High temperatures Tuesday will range from 19 to 31 degrees.
Heavy bands of snow will move north Tuesday night, with southern areas seeing light to moderate snow continuing throughout the night. It’s possible that the midcoast sees some sleet or freezing rain move in, with some rain possible as well, especially near Rockland. Most of the snow will be done at that point for coastal zones anyway.
Snow will move out of southern zones by 1 AM Wednesday, but could take until 7 AM to push out of the mountains. Low temperatures Tuesday night will range from 19 to 28 degrees.
As far as total snow accumulations go, not much has changed, though totals were raised for many. Much of the area can expect 17 to 20 inches of snow, with localized amounts approaching 2 feet possible, especially for southern zones.
Wednesday light snow will continue for the mountains with the rest of us seeing scattered snow showers. Some sun will likely pop out in the morning for southern zones, but it should cloud back up again by evening. High temperatures will range from 25 to 38 degrees.
Have a great evening, thanks as always for your continued support, and I’ll be back in the morning for an update.
