Daily Phone Usage
This graphic represents which parts of the day I spend on my phone. The x-axis measures the time of day starting at 12 a.m. and ending at 11:59 p.m. The y-axis measures the number of minutes I spend on my phone for a particular hour. For example, at 12 a.m., the graph goes up to about 12 mins. This means I spent a total of 12 minutes on my phone between 12 a.m. and 12:59 a.m.
Looking at my graph and the hours I spend on my phone the most, mid-afternoon and late-night ended up at the top. To be more specific, 2–3 p.m. is when I spent the most time on my phone throughout the whole day, with 11 p.m. — 12 a.m. coming in at second. Looking at my data as whole, it starts out with a small increase at 1 a.m. This is due to my poor sleep schedule recently as I usually see myself falling asleep between 2–3 a.m. most nights, which is where my phone use started to dip all the way down to zero.
With the little time that I do spend on my phone during these last few hours, its usually due to me occasionally going on my phone when I’m watching a movie or TV. My usage beings to go back up around 9/10 am usually. For this day, my first class began at 9:30 so my alarm went off around 9:15 or 9:20, since I simply open up my laptop to attend class. I’ll spend some time on my phone by not too much. Then it takes a sharp increase for the next hour as I have a gap in between classes.
I have another gap in between classes at 2 p.m. which is also where I peak during the day. As the day went on from here, it began to decrease and dip far down as I had a work shift from 4:30–7:30 at the Part Library. As my shift began to end, I spent more time on my phone and even more time consistently once I got home for the night. This is also my second highest peak as after 10 pm I usually like to wind down for the night and do what I please.
