As a professional Web3 service provider, Wetez keeps producing useful tools for the Web3 community. Today we are pleased to announce that Wetez APIs, a secure, accurate and easy-to-use blockchain RPC service, is now live!

You are probably wondering why the wetez team chose to launch the RPC service first among the many Web3 requirements?

As we can tell, while the underlying protocols continue to improve themselves, the application layer on top of it is also highly competitive. According to the latest data from DappRadar, there are 10,644 Dapps running on major blockchain networks so far; the total amount of incoming value (tokens included, where available) to all smart contracts across all protocols tracked in 24h is $5.10B. More Dapps are pouring into the rapidly changing world of crypto. Being the leader in a track faster in the pioneering phase will give you a huge first-mover advantage in the competition later on. As a result, APIs that can help save time and costs are becoming one of the essential tools in the Dapp development process.

Why APIs?

In the realm of blockchain, an Application Programming Interface (API) can be defined as an interface to communicate with blockchain nodes, a way to access them externally. As the industry grows, blockchain data is accumulating at an incredible rate, and the data is stored in network nodes decentralized. For the purpose of development or operation, a Dapp sometimes needs access to certain data from one or more blockchain networks. At this point, Dapp developers can choose to run the network nodes themselves at great cost to get the data, or they can choose the faster and more efficient way of accessing the relevant APIs.

The API offered by protocol team

The underlying protocols usually also provide official APIs for use by ecosystem participants. However, due to the limitation on the frequency of access, the official APIs may be inefficient due to excessive requests. At the same time, official APIs are designed with more consideration for the needs of the ecosystem itself, and the type of interface they provide may not meet the needs of some Dapps. In addition, the underlying protocol team often needs to focus on the protocol itself, and providing and maintaining the official API is not something they would put too much effort into. Therefore, there may be cases where the official API is unstable and cannot be fixed or updated in time, affecting their use by developers.

The API offered by third party

At this point, a stable and reliable third party API becomes the first choice for Dapp developers and others with relevant data needs.

Third party APIs also play an important role in the operation of the blockchain network, and the development teams of the underlying network recognise their value. For example, on the 7th of this month, while summarizing an emergency, the Connext team had suggested that node operators add additional RPCs to keep the nodes running well. “We have built a great system to have multiple fallback RPCs in the config.. Most of you run nodes yourselves, but it’s always good practice to add extra RPCs to the array in the config.”, said the Connext CTO Rahul Sethuram.

In the long-term operation of validators, Wetez became acutely aware of the above and also realized that maybe we could do something about it. Our solution is the Wetez APIs, a service launched in response to the needs of the developer community for RPC.

Wetez APIs

Wetez APIs is an RPC service launched by the Wetez team. For over three years we have been running validators on 25+ major PoS blockchains, and in the process we have gained access to a lot of data that many developers need.

What are the advantages of the Wetez APIs?

  • Wetez has extensive experience of running nodes with a proven track record of 0 slash and 99% uptime, which means that timely, accurate and stable data can be obtained from the Wetez APIs.
  • Wetez is serving more and more blockchain projects at a steady growth rate, so developers will be able to access the data interfaces of most PoS projects through the Wetez APIs in the future.

Wetez APIs currently supports four blockchain networks, Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and Arbitrum, and will soon gradually cover a wider range of blockchain networks starting with the Cosmos ecosystem. In the initial phase, the Wetez APIs will offer API services at no cost, with a more targeted paid version to be launched at a later stage while maintaining the free version.
