Catalyst launches database of UK digital, justice and equity grant makers
Useful resource for not-for-profits seeking funding.
For the last 2 years Catalyst has run a page listing sources of digital funding. We set it up after spotting a need for not-for-profits to access more digital funding. It has always been one of the most visited pages on our website and most clicked on links in our newsletter. However, it was also difficult to keep up to date and in 2024 it started to no longer fully align with Catalyst’s new, emerging mission.
Knowing the need was valid, we decided to develop it through:
- a dedicated budget
- broadening the scope of funders and programmes
- more robust grant opportunity research
- more options for how site visitors access the data
- mechanisms for crowdsourcing new opportunities and updating existing ones
- a dedicated page on our new website from end of April 2025.
An audit of justice, equity and digital funders
Earlier in 2025, with help from Jo Jeffery, we began an audit of justice, equity and digital funders. We’ve now completed the work and created a non-comprehensive database of:
- Funding programmes for digital work
- Funders who actively welcome applications for digital work (this is a little subjective)
- Funding programmes funding justice and equity focused work (from anti-racism to climate justice)
The database
Currently the database has 25 opportunities, of which 17 are open for applications.
The database only includes funders who accept unsolicited applications — those with grant making programmes you can apply to. Also, there may be other funders not listed here funding justice and digital work.
You can also view the database in Airtable (no account required).
Crowdsourcing new opportunities and updates
We’re now experimenting with other ways of keeping the database up-to-date.
- Know a funder to add to the database? Submit a funder via this form.
- Spotted an error or out of date info? Let us know using this form.
Thanks to Jo Jeffery for her contribution of this work to Catalyst. Jo will be updating the database for the next 2 months.
The database will have its own page on the new Catalyst website — end of April 2025.
