Would you like to contribute your writing to Catalyst’s Medium publication?

“Our content aspires to be a confluence of inspiring, accessible content showing how people can and are shaping equitable futures through technology, with examples that encourage contribution and interaction.”

You might work for an organisation or in an informal role across the network. Your views and thoughts are welcome here.

You can write blogs or weeknotes. We welcome formal and informal thoughts, updates and reflections from your work. Be open. Share what you’re doing and learning. It benefits everyone when you do.

To get started we need to add you as a writer.

How to get added as a writer on Catalyst’s Medium

  1. Sign up for a Medium.com account
  2. Email Ellie your Medium username. They work for our content team and support our open working approach.
  3. Wait for an email confirming you have been added as a writer to Catalyst’s Medium.

How to publish your first post

  1. Draft your first Medium post. You can start this as soon as you have a Medium account. We encourage you to draft in Medium, but you can also use a Google Doc. If you want help with planning your post you can use this planner template.
  2. Add your post to Catalyst’s Medium. It will also appear on your own Medium page too.
  3. A member of the Catalyst comms team will review and publish your post.

What to write about

You can write about anything tech and justice related that matters to you.

You could write simple and short weeknotes. Shortform content like this is welcome.

You could write your weeknotes in 30 minutes.

You could use one of these useful templates.

You could write a longer blog. That’s welcome too.

Or you could post something else. Youtube and other video platform links can be embedded into Medium posts.

Writing tips

Write in short sentences.

Break up your paragraphs. Use sub-headings (like we have done here). This helps people read your work.

Include pictures. Use gifs or quotes too, if you like.

You can use the Hemingway web app to check your writing. We do this sometimes.

We welcome everyone

We look forward to welcoming you as a writer :)
