Here’s 3 things I’m feeling right now.

I’m sad 😿

  • I’m taking a break from working with Catalyst. I’ve really enjoyed this second stint with them after all the early pandemic work we did together. I really believe in what Catalyst is trying to do and the way they are trying to do it.
  • I’m taking a break from working with CAST too. Its been fun working with the team on regular-shaped projects like the Deloitte Digital Connect programme. My highlights have been doing standups, collaborating on workshops and running retros again.
  • I’m going to have to move from my current parkup. I’ve been here since early May, witnessing the wildflowers and plants surging with growth, while enjoying the fast 4G. Its been beautiful and I could stay, but further fields are calling.

Happy 😺

  • I’m happy because I’m close to delivering on a large piece of content titled: What we mean by ‘Digital’ (draft here). It felt a bit intimidating following in Cassie Robinson’s footsteps but I think its working out. And I’ve commissioned some new icons to go with it.
  • This week a content design post of mine was chosen as the lead article for the Catalyst newsletter. That means 5400 people received it today. I think I’ve had lead articles before but this one includes some cool examples of good and bad design that I think people will like a lot. I’m happy with the post and curious to see how it performs.
  • Happy/excited — because I’m going on a 10 week sabbatical next week. It begins in Avebury and ends August bank holiday weekend. Probably be spending lots of time in nature with family and friends. This has a lot of meaning to me.

Curious 🤔

  • Today I’m curious about the concept of open working as knowledge sharing. Can talking about open working as knowledge sharing help people understand it? If I share my knowledge and work now, will it help people in my organisation when I leave? Will it help me when I am in my new job, because I can go back and reuse the work I made open?
  • How will my volunteer project turn out? I’ve been running steward recruitment for Buddhafield Festival in Somerset. Its been fun and I’m about to design a steward handbook. I don’t think anyone here is used to working through the design process I use. So I’m wondering how its going to turn out for them (and for me).
  • How will it be when I take on Catalyst’s Service Recipes project in September? I’ll be managing the product and working with a small team. I’ll be accountable and have some delivery responsibilities. Even though it was an easy yes to the offer, its been 5 years since I last led a product.
