Welcome to another Throwback Thursday, where I share a classic video from the At-Bristol/We The Curious archives.

Normally I like to go for something a bit obscure, a hidden gem that only our most dedicated viewers may have seen before. This week though, we’re going to mix things up a bit and check out the most popular video on our YouTube channel.

Any guesses what it’s about?

You got it. Space! 🌌🌌🌌

We’re all staying in right now. A lot. I have become extremely familiar with the sights and sounds of my own home and the short walk to Sainsbury’s and, frankly, I’m ready for some variety.

Of course, with lockdown in full effect I can’t just go away on holiday. But what about a virtual holiday? To space? That might work.

Here’s why I chose this video this week:

  • It’s Mental Health Awareness Week this week. One thing that helps me out when I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed is some perspective. It’s nice to be reminded that your problems, while important, are pretty small in the grand, cosmic, scheme of things.
  • You don’t actually need any kind of special VR headset to experience this video. Just click and move around on the video. If you do have a fancy headset or even just a Cardboard then even better!
  • Hearing a reassuring, calm voice talk about the ‘Goldilocks Zone’ is just making me hungry for porridge. Ideally with some fruit and honey. And not too hot or cold obvs. 🤤

So, grab some headphones if you’ve got them. Sit back, relax and enjoy a virtual tour of six real exoplanets 🚀🪐
