2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20, West Indies
November 9th-24th
Here at WeTrack we love brilliant events so much that we just want to write about them! And with the explosive growth of women’s cricket showing no signs of receding, the Women’s World T20 this November is fully deserving of spotlight.
The sixth edition of the tournament travels to the Caribbean for the second time (after 2010), with the host nation seeking to defend their title of 2016. Their main challengers for repeat glory will be 2017 World Cup winners England, eager to enter a period of dominance over the world game — but they haven’t tasted World T20 success since the first edition in 2009.
With the two favourites in mind, let’s select a key player from each side to look at in more detail…
- Stafanie Taylor (West Indies) — captain, all-rounder, star. The Player of the Tournament in 2016 with 246 runs and 8 wickets will be pivotal to her nation’s fortunes again — she will be seeking her first T20I ton this year.
- Dani Wyatt (England) — the mercurial yet explosive all-rounder can boast two T20I centuries on her resumé and has the ability to take the game away from any bowling attack.
One more thing — check out the tournament’s amazing official song! Feel-good is an understatement… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_lW8Sj_XWk
That should have given you a flavour of the carnival atmosphere which will be found at each game!
And of course, WeTrack are backing England!
