New year, new set of amazing events. While compiling our 2019 Events calendar we realised how fortunate we are, in the UK and internationally, to have an abundance of fantastic spectacles to satisfy any taste.

Check out the three events that we have chosen to spotlight this month!

CES 2019

January 8th-11th

The world’s biggest tech trade show returns to Las Vegas, its host since 1978.

The numbers speak to its size and importance. Over 4,500 exhibiting companies. Over 180,000 attendees from 150 countries. 2.5 million square feet of exhibiting space.

It is at the pinnacle of technological innovation, having showcased in previous years ground-breaking developments such as the CD, the DVD, HD television and driverless car technology.

The one glaring omission? Apple. They choose not to exhibit at CES, preferring their own individual exhibitions. They probably get enough press anyway…

Australian Open, Tennis

January 14th-27th

It’s the start of the tennis year and the return of that familiar feeling of waking up to the news of tennis scores!

Talking of familiar feelings, Messrs Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer *still* sit atop the men’s rankings… the big British hope is Kyle Edmund, who reached the semi-finals here in Melbourne in 2018.

The women’s draw is as open as ever, but Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova are back in the seeds after previous absences.

Sundance Film Festival

January 24th-February 3rd

The largest independent film festival in the United States, founded by Robert Redford in 1978. It describes itself as “the ultimate gathering of original storytellers and audiences seeking new voices and fresh perspectives”.

It draws widespread attention to incredible and inspiring films which might have otherwise slipped under the radar.

Over 125,000 attendees are expected over the ten days.
