Over the last couple weeks DeFi has seen its fair share of OHM forks and while some of them have delivered, others have left investors asking if these forks can deliver similar value to OHM or if they are just cash grabs. In this post we’re going to tell you why we chose this model and how it brings value to Whale.Loans users.

Let’s get stuck in. This is what the return on our Dynamic Hedging Vaults looks like before the HUMP token incentive.

As you can see ~25% APY is quite impressive especially by industry standards when it comes to stablecoin vaults. Remember this is without native token incentives. This is of tremendous value for users wanting to escape the immense volatility in crypto by remaining market neutral and still capturing the upside that crypto has to offer.

Now let’s look at the flip side. Below is an illustration showing what the APY would look like if we staked just 1/5th of the users deposits into HUMP which borrows OHM’s token model.

An incremental improvement but a massive difference in terms of returns. Without doubt this is how the OHM token model, if utilized properly, can deliver massive value to users while also offering them protection from the unforgiving market that has been relentless as of late.

Final Thoughts

To wrap things up, we believe that the tokenomics behind OHM is an improved iteration of liquidity mining and the true signal of DeFi 2.0. This isn’t a fad, but a new norm. The reason it’s so popular at the moment is due to the value it provides to protocols and users. HUMP will be integrated in all of our products from the Dynamic Hedging Vaults to the Flash Minting platform and beyond. HUMP tokenholders and participants will be rewarded extremely well in our ecosystem.

In our next article, we will briefly explain our roadmap and the future of the Whale.Loans ecosystem. To stay up to date on our launch, news and announcements visit:
