The Roadmap for WhaleCoin

Pre-Launch

Before we mined the Genesis Block for WhaleCoin we solidified our strategy for success by creating a hyperfast difficulty adjustment algorithm, lovingly dubbed “Ahab”. You can learn more about Ahab in our mining FAQ. We also created a unique smart-contracted reward structure to create our Followers fund which will be used in the future to allow Whales to reward Followers at their discretion. You can learn more about how that will work in our Whitepaper. One week after releasing our Whitepaper and announcing the birth of WhaleCoin we were ready to mine our Genesis Block.

Genesis Block

WhaleCoin’s Genesis Block was mined on Monday, Sep. 4th, 2017. It originally launched with a mining reward of 1 coin per block in order to limit the incentive for one miner to flood the network, and to give us a chance to test out Ahab. After block 1,000 the reward was increased to 15 coins per block. From there the reward will go down by 1 coin per block every 100,000th block until it reaches 5 coins per block.

Post-Launch

Since the mining of the Genesis Block we have been working on the coins’ usability. We’ve facilitated the creation of mining pools, created a Block Explorer, made a MyEtherWallet-based web wallet for WhaleCoin, and released supportive instructional documents. We are currently finishing up a desktop wallet for WhaleCoin (tba) and are actively working to get WhaleCoin onto exchanges.

Post- 200,000 Block

Okay, this is where it gets really exciting! After the 200,000 block is when our smart-contracted Follower fund will go into effect. Here are some of the basics that we have planned:

• Whale and Follower rewards contract launch
• Launch decentralized social network
• Smart contract based role assignments
• Smart contract rewards distribution
• Initiate moderator role
• Launch WhaleCoin plugins for other popular social networks
• Launch special access Whale and Follower dashboards supporting key insights, metrics, and easy reward distribution
• Ethereum checkpoint anchoring to protect against 51% attacks

Spring 2018

After the initial launch of our Whale and Follower contracts, Social Network, and special-access dashboards, we will continue to tweak the reward mechanics of WhaleCoin as we find the right balance of incentives to grow the coin. We will also continue to improve the UX design of our Social Network and other applications.
