When mainstream investing publication The Motley Fool talks about investing in NFT gaming, there is no denying that play-to-earn (P2E) GameFi is making an indelible mark on the mainstream.

According to them, “Trading volume for NFTs hit $10.67 billion in the third quarter of 2021, up a whopping 704% from the previous quarter, according to analytics platform DappRadar. In-game items generated $2.3 billion of trading volume in that period, representing 22% of the total.”

Military-themed collectible strategy game WARSAKEN is deployed and has rallied the troops, primed to conquer P2E gaming action with its pack drop this December 15th.

268 distinct collectible trading cards, each with different types of mechanics, are player weapons to execute real-time strategy FTW.

Warsaken is particularly unique because it’s a physical game that is still in the hangar, upgraded to the digital domain. Their physical cards were imbued with remarkable 2D art, but their digital properties have augmented the experience — boasting mind-boggling animation and effects for true immersion.

Check out the Warsaken Wallpapers here.

Warsaken is a modern military-themed deck construction game with dynamics similar to Magic: The Gathering. There are no dungeons or dragons, though the game is still laden with fire 🔥 and mayhem 💣.

BASIC TRAINING

You have a deck made up of 65 cards exactly which includes one leader card, four territory cards and 60 arsenal cards (you can’t have more than four each of those).

Each player commands a legion, comprised of all the cards you have in the war zone — where the game is played. These legions go to war in order to do the (in the immortal words of The Brain):

“… same thing we do every night, Pinky.…try to take over the world!”

You have an arsenal, made up of every card except your leader or territory card: forces, buildings, WMD, weather, morale, and intel cards. Learn more about the specifics of all of the cards and gameplay here.

The player with the last leader standing wins the game.🥇

Warsaken Leaders

INCEPTION

Coleman of the Warsaken team recounts: “We started developing about two and a half years ago. Our CEO and the creator of Warsaken, Brandon, wanted to get a game that he could play with his dad and also with his son. With video games being so generational, it’s so hard to find games that meet all of that. So he decided to create one and put together a team.”

Warsaken initially was built as a physical trading card game only. Coleman was the one who turned them onto WAX.

“I had been in the crypto space and I had been associated with the (Warsaken) team doing some writing, doing a lot of the backstories, a lot of the lore. I went to the team and said, ‘Hey, you’ve got to come take a look at this. You’ve got this project that’s ready to go. It’s a pre-built game. The blockchain has never seen anything like it.’

Specialist Dexter Smith

“So at the beginning of the year, they came and looked at it, fell in love with the WAX base and we’ve been working since spring to get everything together, to launch on the WAX blockchain.

“(On December 15th) we will have our first pack sale and then we’re just a couple months from having our first game on the chain.”- Coleman, Warsaken General

WHY WAX?

Coleman discusses some of the rationales for utilizing the WAX chain during the $WHALE FM Project Showcase interview you can watch below:

As a crypto enthusiast himself, Coleman’s experience led him to propose WAX as an ideal solution. He cites nominal gas fees, exponential growth of the token, varied platform utility, staking, and the benefits of being proof-of-stake vs. proof-of work.

Wax.io Support on PoS vs. PoW:“Unlike a proof-of-work blockchain, WAX is a proof-of-stake chain. You stake your WAXP tokens to claim a portion of the resources available on the chain to send your transactions. The more you stake, the more transactions you can send. This is an early article outlining how the resources on the chain function with some examples."“As a proof-of-stake chain, there is no race to be the first to write to a block and claim the reward. Block producers (referred to as guilds) take turns writing blocks to the chain so the amount of energy used to transact on WAX is minimal compared to proof-of-work chains (sometimes WAX will use up to 125,000% less energy than other chains).“This is one of the big benefits of the WAX blockchain: You stake to claim a portion of the available resources and when you no longer need them, you can unstake your WAXP tokens and use them for something else.

WAX vIRL NFTs

WAX vIRL, or “virtual, in real life” NFTs basically transfer the ownership of a physical object anywhere in the world until the physical item is redeemed and shipped to its owner.

Because Warsaken was initially created as a physical game (watch for more details on the upcoming retail version, though they already have a limited edition set available), there is definitely some team interest in this WAX capability.

Coleman enthuses, “The vIRL looks HUGE! Warsaken has talked extensively about tying physical and digital items together. For our first physical set there will be no correlation, but physical owners will receive claim codes for an exclusive set of Warsaken NFTs. vIRL looks like the future (shoot, Amazon just invested a bunch of money in vIRL today, didn’t they?) And Warsaken will definitely look at the tech. WAX is the perfect platform for something like this.”

LAUNCH DETAILS

⌚ Timeline

  • DEC 15 — Pack Sale
  • DEC 18 — First Wave Upgrade Sale
  • DEC 18 — Upgrading Goes live
  • DEC 22 — Pack Opening Go Live
  • JAN 5 — Passive Staking Go Live

💳 Purchase

  • New Warsaken packs will be available for purchase using WAX only — there will not be an option to purchase via credit card as previously announced. There were technical difficulties which forced the team to rearrange the project timeline a bit.
  • The team recommends you use MoonPay in order to purchase WAX if you don’t already have a preferred solution.
  • There are over 1.6 million Warsaken cards pre-minted and ready for launch within the varied packs. Premium and ultra-premium cards are already wrapped and ready to go.

“We have seen bigger growth and faster growth than we anticipated, so I really hope that we have enough packs to go around. We are doing pack limits because we do want to get them in as many hands as possible.” — Coleman, Warsaken

  • Transaction Limits: collectors will be able to purchase:
    * 15 Booster packs at a time, or
    * 7 Elite packs at a time, or
    * 3 Premium packs at a time
    for each transaction.
  • There will be a cooldown period between each purchase before being able to buy the packs again at the same limits to accommodate community members globally and make sure everyone who wants a pack, can hopefully get one.

“When the sale goes live, you will click to buy and a random number generator will determine whether you get in. Whether you are successful or not, there will be a cooldown period for you to wait and try again. If you get in, you can purchase one type of pack, up to the limit. You will have to choose Premium, Elite, or Booster packs,” Coleman explains.

🔼 Upgrades

First Wave upgrade cards will also be minted on-demand beginning December 18th. Anyone in the First Wave group will get those cards long before this date.

You can also upgrade any common cards you get to Fire Forged or Medal cards. If you take five of the common (black-bordered) cards you can upgrade them to an uncommon Medal using the burn mechanism, changing a batch of five cards with a total of five XP to one Medal card with 20 XP.

If you upgrade those same five Medal/uncommon cards and use at least 1 First Wave upgrade card, you will receive a 1st Wave Fire Forged card worth 3000 XP.

Since staking will require one premium card, you could spend five dollars to be able to stake right off the bat if you buy a Booster pack.

Release the Kraken!

The First Wave upgrade cards will be mint on demand: both the cards used to upgrade and the cards that result from the upgrade. First Wave upgrade cards can be used in place of any NFT in an upgrade (though the upgrade must use at least 2 of the original NFTs). This will add First Wave status to any upgrade, which will increase the XP value of the card significantly.

The First Wave A group will get two free upgrade cards, and First Wave B will get one each.

💎 Rarity

In each Booster packs of 18 cards, there is a premium card of varying rarity (rarity percentages TBD).

✂ Pack Opening

Pack opening is tentatively scheduled for December 22nd

🔒 Passive Staking

Passive staking is tentatively scheduled to go live two weeks after pack opening.

💰 Loot

Loot is Warsaken’s in-game currency. Loot is used to buy loot packs, in-game effects, and raffle tickets. Loot packs can also contain owner cards, driving significant demand. You can obtain loot by claiming once per day according to your rank. Unclaimed loot will not be carried over, so it’s important to collect daily.

COMMUNITY

Warsaken has a vibrant diehard community full of members that extol its virtues.

Dub_Toshi has been a Warsaken Discord community member for about three months. He is super stoked about the project and its approach.

“Warsaken has from the very start put community first. (There are) many giveaways each day. And they always try to give everyone equality. They follow up on promises and help everyone understand NFTs in general, not just (their) own project.

“They give 100% time and dedication to everyone who wants to be a part of the team. The admin and leaders put so much effort into making everything fair for everyone. Even how the giveaways are done is brilliant, with the coded YouTube video and then a 3-hour cooling-off period so it’s harder to cheat (with) multi-accounts.

“I have not spoken to anyone in Warsaken who wasn’t willing to help, and everyone is happy to see others succeed. When I come in and chat, I always leave feeling I have spent my time with kind, hard-working people.”

And the Warsaken team demonstrates this with their community initiatives as well. They recently held a huge fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project to show support for United States veterans and the sacrifices they made to serve. In fact, one of the game’s leaders is patterned after Brandon’s father, who is a United States Army veteran who worked in Intelligence. Many of the team members have family who served, as well — lending a palpable aura of care and authenticity with everything they do.

ON THE WARPATH

Warsaken really looks like it’s on a mission for blockchain gaming world dominance.

Judging by the team, transparency, engagement, and execution - it looks like this military machine is poised to advance its territory and lay claim to its destined share of the NFT gaming landscape.
