$WHALE: The Why

$WHALE launched on May 2nd 2020 with a nice splash in the Crypto and NFT community.

Among the overwhelming cries of support, there were also the voices of reason, the questions born of healthy scepticism and a small 0.01% of illogical accusations and assumptions.

Amid all of this, we launched our 2nd $WHALE community competition… the aptly named “FAQ Me” which allowed for community members to raise and discuss any concerns that they had with the project.

As many asked questions on technology, governance and strategy, a single voice asked the Golden Question:

The ever deep, ever astute Pak, asking the most simple yet complex question of them all:

Why?

While many people do things for Money, Power or Fame. The purpose of $WHALE has nothing do with these.

I have long made enough money to last for generations. Zero leverage, zero debt.

I embraced and continue to embrace anonymity over recognition.

While my financial clout and voice do give me power, I would rather be the master of myself than the master of others.

All 3 points should be apparent in my actions as well as confirmed by 10 leaders of community during the identity verification check that took place in the $WHALE discord channel (discord.gg/whale).

I owe it to the community and all potential holders and users of $WHALE to provide an answer that is honest not only to all of you, but also to myself.

The “Why” for $WHALE is both from my head (brain), as well as from my heart:

Head: I want to do the right thing.

Heart: $WHALE is an extension of who I am.

What do I mean by those 2 main points?

I want to do the right thing.

While my wealth is a result of capitalism, I am an idealist at heart.

My fortunes were not made through corporate politics, day trading, market manipulation or any activities that fall on the grey side of business ethics.

They were built through honest hard work and iron clad determination that produced positive results. Positive results that I was rewarded for.

I feel that the financial system today has lost sight of the traditional principles of fundamentals and results in lieu of greed.

We live in a world where companies that lose billions of dollars can be worth billions of dollars…. to the right people at the right time.

We live in a world where a select few can manipulate crypto markets so that they can meet their shorts and longs, regardless of the fundamentals… leaving smaller investors a penny short and a dollar shy.

We live in a world where currencies are minted and printed irrationally with no regards to the after effects that will befall the economically uneducated… with that money being only charity in name but not in action.

And it hurts emotionally for me to see people who are trying to just “get by” get caught in the bear and bull traps just so that a select few can enrich themselves at the expense of others.

$WHALE is my mark of defiance in the face of greed over fundamentals.

$WHALE is my experiment to see if we can make a return to stability and true value.

$Whale is my attempt to help the 99%.

$WHALE is an extension of who I am.

1, Sharing

I run multiple companies across the world and every single one of them has some form of employee owned structure or mechanism.

I don’t believe in exploiting others for self gain and am a firm proponent of succeeding together rather than at the expense of others.

Collecting can be a very solitary and self-focused activity. While I am an introvert by nature, I enjoy community, collaboration and positive discussion.

$WHALE will allow me to do that with The Vault.

2, Curiosity

Many people assume that when you’ve “made it” you retire to a beach and live out the rest of your days sipping a Margarita and watching the sun set.

Been there, done that, decided to leave the beach after 2 months.

I am extremely curious and ambitious by nature and a sedentary lifestyle does not fit me very well.

I am always looking for the next challenge, looking for the next opportunity, and relish the chance to build and create.

$WHALE is the culmination of all my experiences in the NFT space and a chance to turn those learnings into something greater for the community.

3, Creation

I love creating beautiful things.

While I have not been blessed with any artistic talent that I can exercise across a canvas (digital or not) like many in the Rare Digital Art community, I execute my “brush strokes” through the creation of ideas, organizations, teams, processes and execution.

I love creating companies and businesses that will stand the test of 100 years and have been told that I am adept at business execution not only at 40,000 feet, but also 4 feet.

The only thing that gives me more pleasure than to create something long-lasting and beautiful, is to share that something with the people who contributed and travelled along that journey with me.

$WHALE is not only an extension of who I am, it is who I am… A manifestation of my principles as a person.

This has been the most honest piece that I have ever written on Cent and I do hope that something in this answer to “Why” resounds with you and encourages you to join me on this journey.

While the concept of $WHALE will not be for everybody, the $WHALE community has my solemn promise that I will do everything within my talents and my powers to make this a resounding success. A success that will be shared with those brave enough to journey with me in these first steps.

If I’ve learned anything at all in life… nothing is easy. Nothing ever goes as planned. But, with determination and resilience, even if it is for those final few minutes, the tides will turn and success will be inevitable.
