Punk Goes Pop Goes Meh
Did you ever like the Punk goes Pop series? I used to, but now… no. The tracklisting for the CDs are as follows. I will break them all down right now:
Pop Goes Punk I
2002

I like some of these songs. Yellowcard had a good rendition of everywhere, he actually sang the lyrics instead of screaming them, then again he is a good singer. Rufio with Like a prayer, which was originally by Madonna, is amazing! There are of course tracks that I do not like, some are ok, some are not! Thrice has my favorite song on this album as they sing Send Me An Angel which was by the band Real Life, it’s a crazy good rendition and I just loved it!
Punk Goes Pop II
2009

Here is Volume 2, it is good as well, well this isn't where we failed. Silverstein doing Apologize, Alesana covering Timberlake and Timbaland! A Day to remember, not even in their strongest song, but still good, Chiodos did an ok version of Flagpole Sitta, where as Bayside has a great song and so did Attack Attack! The song by Attack Attack was good despite the screamy craziness. They placed all the growls in all the right places.
Punk Goes Pop III
2010

I think I found the bad seed! I do not see one song that I am a fan of! I am starting to know fewer of the bands and starting to know fewer of the pop songs too, maybe this is on me? Maybe my disdain is because I am getting older? Ugh I hope not! I know the bands start to get screamier and screamier too! I am a fan of it done well!
Punk Goes Pop IV
2011

There is a definite break down from Volume 2 to Volume 4! Was it budget? What happened, are these the popular bands now? Shall we change the name to pop goes pop? The only one I like on here is Silverstein because they joined with another Canadian band did a better job than Kanye!
Punk Goes Pop V
2012

Crap on a stick! The only thing I can see that I like is Taking Back Sunday, and it is only their singer and he is featured, not the headliner. This is just… what the crap!
Punk Goes Pop VI
2014

I am just not sure what happened from point A to Point B! I think commercialism got in the way, maybe just a little. There are also 12 years in between all the albums! Not to mention Punk Goes Metal, 80s, 90s Vol 1 & 2, Acoustic Vol 1 & 2, Crunk (which was quite good), X Games, Classic Rock (Big Bucket of Yuck and of course Christmas! To say that all of these were good would be laughable, 80's had moments and so did Crunk.
The time from 2002 to now caused a huge change as the popular “punk” bands changed, Punk has changed, we have gone from a Pop Punk that was close the original genre (not the same, just closer) to Pop Punk which is much different than the original sound, even much different than the 90's version of Punk. I could go on all day and have you all argue with me over what real punk is but I won’t! I JUST WON’T!
All I know is that miss these CD’s being for me, and now they are for someone else. I hope you liked the read.
