Two weeks until the Berlin Marathon!
Oh shit. That’s arrived quickly hasn’t it?
Since my last post I’ve had a great week, followed by a bad week and am part way through an OK week. Looking back across the whole of August I’ve managed to run 21 out of 31 days and clocked up (after today’s planned run) nearly 250km. I’ve had a few breakthrough sessions in there too — a strong showing at an offroad half marathon, a 19:30 parking and a strong 32km run around London.
I’ve pretty much banked all the training I can now. That doesn’t meant I can put my feet up for two weeks, but it does mean I can’t expect any significant physiological changes. Based on all the work so far, I will be aiming for a 3:15 marathon. This will be a significant PB, but certainly not a sub-3 marathon. That’s good news if you’ve enjoyed reading these posts… I will keep writing until I crack this!
Sorry (not sorry) to ask, but it would be great if you could sponsor me at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ben-unsworth-berlin. The accountability of posting regular updates has helped with the training and I am sure the accountability of generous donations will keep me honest in Berlin and at the Wendover Woods 50 miler in November :)
