All you need to do is look at Wisconsin to see what the GOP does when it gains power

This’ll be short, folks. I’ve got a bunch of longer rants germinating — like a reminder of how we shouldn’t call the GOP “Republicans” any more because they are actively against republicanism as our founders, or even the Romans, understood it — but this one will be short:

There’s a headline circulating this morning courtesy of the New York Times: “With No Warning, House Republicans Vote to Gut Independent Ethics Office”.

This is why I actually agree with people who say the New York Times is slipping a bit in its journalistic standards, because really, we had all the motherfucking warning in the world. Because this is what the GOP does when it gets power anywhere — dismantles watchdogs, dismantles regulation, enables corruption.

Don’t believe me? Look to Wisconsin. Scott Walker’s Wisconsin. Look at how barefacedly the GOP, in control of every branch of Wisconsin government, dismantled every possible watchdog and safety system against government shenanigans. Here’s an example…
