What I Can’t Even

Hello there, Class of 2011! We, your class correspondents, hope you are having a fantastic summer. Can you believe it’s been two years since we graduated? Even though the weather where we are is hot, we’ve had an unfortunate “cool-down” in the news we are receiving. So please take the time to drop us a line and share a piece of your life with your classmates! Every bit counts. And now for our updates…

Steven Chavez is at the University of Michigan finishing up his masters of fine arts in poetry. His first book of poems, Paradox, came out last summer. He says he misses his senior roommate James Carvan and the pasta bar in Francis Dining Hall!

Amber Kerry moved to London to pursue a degree at the prestigious London School of Economics. While in London, she met a “lovely English gentleman” who just recently proposed! We wish Amber and her lovely English gentleman a very wonderful life together.

If you were at Reunion Homecoming back in October (we know WE were!), you most likely saw ol’ Zack Fischer spreading good cheer (and free beer) with his buddies Michael Mays and Emma Jackson. Zack, Michael, and Emma started a food delivery app business after graduating, and have been enjoying the good life ever since. Thanks for the beer, guys!

Kim Barbar had a nervous breakdown in January.

Speaking of health…Jen Daniels spent the past year in South Korea on a Fulbright grant, researching obstetrics and teaching science to high school students. She’s loving the culture of South Korea, but says on bad days the smog can be quite suffocating. Oh no!

Teddy Oberman left his job at Disney, where he had been working as a financial analyst for the theme parks and resorts division, and has recently signed on to work at Google. Before he begins at Google, though, he’ll be backpacking from Ethiopia to Cape Town with Sarah Asrow, who has recently signed on to work for Yahoo as a marketing strategist.

Phillip Leep is unemployed and lives with his parents. He’s an alcoholic.

Also enjoying life is Kappa Kappa Gamma sister Katie Sweets, who just married her high school sweetheart in Austin, Texas. The newlyweds will honeymoon in Hawaii before they both start new jobs at Hewlett-Packard. Congratulations, Katie!

And let’s not forget Katie’s fellow Kappa Kappa Gamma sister Tracy Boone, who just moved to Cambridge, Mass., where she will begin her lifelong dream of being a student at Harvard Law.

Courtney Straw had an affair with a married man while living in New York. She’s now in therapy and finally learning more about her damaged relationship with her father.

Well, that’s it for now, guys! As we said, we’d love to hear from more of you — even if it’s just a few words and from far away. Just look at Ray Howser — he sent us a postcard from prison!
