One Little Thing, Everyday

So I just want to practice using words
to string a sentence,
bring a picture back to life,
revisit a memory,
tell a funny story,
find the veins in ideas,
feel a little more when I feel nothing,
feel a little less when I feel a lot,
swim a little in my mind,
hide a little when thoughts rain down like hail in a storm,
open the boxes that I have kept shut,
show a little more than I can otherwise,
think a little more deeply — a little more fiercely,
support myself when my mind is consuming me,
form a habit to live for,
get into my head,
get out of my head,
give a voice to those who don’t have one,
craft a voice to lend in the first place,
and love a little more with every letter.

Personal writings on gender and mental health. Life is a dinner table conversation and I’m noting down whatever I can on disposable napkins.
