What is Love to You?
Intimacy is a Rowboat
Life is but a dream
A gentle boat parts
The lapping water of the stream,
Just as you would coax me
To open up and let down my softened gates.
The oars of the boat
Dip in and out,
Pulling back,
And pushing forward again,
So like the rhythm
Of an amorous adventure.
A generous release of ardent feeling
Erupts in the dash of a rowboat,
And in the passionate union of two people.
The smooth boat rides quick
Across the glassy water,
Slipping over the images
Of bright sky and lush trees.
Our bodies ride quick too
Over the roving sheets,
Where we satisfy the fantasies
Of our minds and hearts.
The agile synchrony
Of arms, legs, and oars,
Against the tough but yielding water,
Is like the dance of our coordinated limbs,
Lifting here and falling there,
With the ease and grace of nymphs.
