Love At First Sight
How Do You Feel When In Love At Sight?
Hi.. “ so I met this guy and my first time meeting him, I fell in love with him”.what do you call this type of feeling? Is it “infatuation” or “Love at first sight”? This is how some of us feel when our heart beats for someone we just met. You want to be sure of that feeling. I must say, you are right to think so because this feeling ‘Differs.’ It could be an infatuation or love at first sight, which brings me to explain what the two terms simply mean.
Infatuation is simply a strong feeling or desire of love or attraction towards someone or something, especially when these are unreasonable and do not last long. It can also be a state of being carried away by an unreasoned passion or assumed love. According to Hilman and Philip, “they described it as the libidinal attraction of addictive love, inspired with an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone.”
While on the other hand;
Love, at first sight, is the experience one gets or feels of starting to be in love or falling in love with someone as soon as you see them for the first time. Just like it is said, love at first sight. This feeling is strong and keeps coming to you now and then, even in your lonely hour. Love, at first sight, is a psychological feeling. But I’ll be making it much simpler.
How Do You Know It Is Love At First Sight?
There are signs to watch out for to check or know if it is love at first sight because we mistake infatuation for love at first sight. There is a need to confirm your feeling of love first before making a mistake that will hurt or lead to regrets later on. Here is how to find out if, indeed, it is love.
1. You're giving them Eyes
According to Aurand, he says” our intuitive feeling allows us to tell in about 100 milliseconds whether or not someone is a suitable sexual partner. Once the initial electricity of sexual attraction is felt- which is often than not a superficial ‘ beauty’ based assessment, one or both of you might start exchanging prolonged hither glances(aka copulatory glances). How true is this? If you have ever been struck by love at first sight, you will know that this sign is true.
I remembered walking down the street a certain time when a guy just kept looking at me. I must say I was triggered by that look and was uncomfortable; before you know it- so much going on in my head. Thoughts like, “ why is he looking at me? Does he like me? Oh, he is cute ‘’ but.. then I just waved it off my head because I wasn’t feeling the same but just admired him. It could be different for you. It could be that one or both of you will give each other glances and think through the same feeling of love, and there might be a connection if the move is made.
Sometimes, we think we can determine feelings, intelligence, and sexual orientation, by looking into each other’s stares. All of this happens so fast, and cannot help to decide compatibility when you are yet to speak to each other.
2. You Feel A Sense Of Relaxation And Warmth:
When you love at first, you tend to have this feeling of relaxation or familiarity because you are simply attracted to them and feel they are similar to you, which will now establish a feeling of instant trust for that person. But having that trust does not mean that they can be trusted; that can only be possible after starting a relationship. You start feeling yourself, thinking of similarities in common like personalities, social class, financial status( economic), or culture. Most times, these are features we only consider and look out for without actually speaking with the person.
Stop making assumptions about character and deeper sides of people, all because of a feeling. Try to take things slowly by first talking to them, and the rest will follow. At this juncture, you are relaxed and comfortable when you see them. You feel no harm or danger when they are around.
3. You Feel Excited or “Butterfly”
To feel butterflies is a nervous expression in your stomach before doing something. Can you remember that feeling you get when the one you are in love with is approaching you, and you both almost touch, or that feeling you get when you speak together for the first time? Wow, this feeling gets you excited and giddy; this is a strong and clear sign that it is love at first sight. Butterflies are our fight-or-flight responses released by adrenaline. This Adrenaline is mostly released when we are anxious or expecting something positive.
4. Synchronicity
Synchronicity is when two or more things are happening at the same time. This feeling is mostly felt when you have so much in common after conversing. The feeling of being completely in tune with someone you just met is intriguing and emotional. When you think alike, want the same thing, and feel the same way, it is going to be a beautiful and life-changing experience. But remember, do not get carried away by presumptions and assessments.
When you start getting to know each other, it is important to state what you want in life, and the relationship and have an open conversation without hiding anything from one another. Asking deeper or more vulnerable questions will help both of you to understand each other and align to what you want — to prevent future regrets or hurts. What is your experience of love at first sight?
